I don't want the truck to blow up, just light up the crooks like a Christmas tree. Think of the money we'd save the states.

:biggrin_25513: You, fine sir, have watched too many movies.

    It's diesel, not C4.

Speaking of C4 its a wonder some EX military spook type have not been on here telling how to booby trap the fuel caps or at least get the US MARSHALLS involved

I have 2 pieces of pipe welded and drilled/bolted to the frame rails pointed at the area someone would be standing while taking off the fuel caps. Inside the pipes are 10 gauge shotgun shells. The pipes have a wired off trigger mechanism that you have to remove before unscrewing the caps otherwise they will trigger off and obliterate anything 5 feet wide for 10 feet away. Found a bloody heap on the ground one morning during my pretrip, tightened up the loose fuel cap and reloaded the pipe with a shotgun shell, went on and made my delivery no problems.

Had my fuel stolen from a small truck stop one night, had the locking fuel caps on also, truck was left unattended overnight while I was home, went to do my walk around the next morning and noticed on passenger sde my fuel tank cap was off and hanging, further investigation I seen that the caps locking mechanism had been completely knocked out where the key goes in, that part was layin on the inside of the tank. I quit parking there and started parking with another O/O behind a shopping mall, I went to my truck one early morning and noticed the other O/O had his window broken out, later found out his CB and dirty clothes was stolen, not to long after that I bought some land big enough for a house and my truck to park. I still believe in locking caps tho, and perhaps along with the inserts they will deter but.unfortunately will never prevent...

I'm with you there. Wish I had land, and the locking caps and inserts just keep the majority out. Might as well make it hard on them. I'd venture a guess that most fuel theft is quick. The loser stealing it wants to be in and out. You parked in the same spot a lot, someone probably noticed you were taking home time there.

Another idea I had was to install a false 15 gallon tank filled with DEF fluid in each diesel tank-- what you'd have to do is fuel the diesel in some hidden place or unusual place the thief would not readily think about. Meanwhile he's pumping in either 15 or 30 gallons of DEF into his rig if he is so brazen to siphon some off each side lol.
