Hello
I'm currently leased to flatbed trucking company and I'm thinking of going on my own.
Want to lease trailer to see how it goes and then eventually buy one.
Do you guys know some good and cheap companies to lease 48x102 flatbed trailer "nearby" NY/NJ ??
How much money am I looking to pay for it?
Any info will be greatly appreciated
Flatbed LEASE/RENT near NY, NJ and how much ?

Can't help in your area - but TNT sales, St. Louis had them for $550/month rental.
Try Truck Paper - Trailers - select your trailer and zip code, and you should turn up a local place.bravoo67 Thanks this. -

I think Bowman rents flats as well. You'll probably be in the 600 a month range at Hale.

I think Hale might have better units than Bowman seeing some of their stuff on the road. Jmt
Extra lease used to have flats alsobravoo67 Thanks this. -
Xtra won't touch a one truck operation. Hale does have better equipment, but I don't know their rental qualifications.

If you have the money to go out on your own, buy a used one. If all you are looking for is a simple high flat spread, look on Craigs list. $4k+ will get you a good structural trailer. Spend the $500 per axle and replace all the brake parts. Drums, shoes, cams, slacks, cans, valves, bearings, races, seals.

Would only having a 96 width cost you much work over a 102 ?

From my limited experience, the only time you need over 8' is when you drive equipment on. Most of the time I make the forklift guy move the pallets over so they touch once he is done loading. With the 8.5' they always put the pallets on the edge. You can haul all the 102" freight you want on a 96".
