all ways hear about the high mileage some get, usually it is one time,,flat ground, light load 50MPH with a 50 mph tail wind,,
I have a friend that bragged about 7.3mpg,,but when asked his mileage reported on his ifta last quarter he does not know, or his average running a load from LA to Denver -
Yeah, one good run does not mean anything.
The truck I drove with best fuel economy was 9 speed
Kenworth T2000. Cummins I think. Top heavy with a reefer driving 62 mph driving 550 miles a night I averaged on consistent basis over 8 mpg just cruising. There were a few big hills, no traffic, on the highway.
The average was in the 8s too. It was coming back light but at 65, and there was some iding tooDrtyDiesel Thanks this. -
Normally our trucks average 6. I got 7.9 that one night only because I did nothing but long runs so I wasn't idling and stopping and going as much.

Actually my new record is 10.4, just for fun.

I bet if you removed mirrors you could set some kind of record.
I saw a few that had cameras instead -

Your info says you are not a trucker.
You posted your speed was 55-60mph.
Later you posted it was 60-65mph.
Your distance was 82,000 miles.
Your weight was 20,000#. Same 20,000# load for 80,000 miles??
Mileage was 9+mpg. No now 7.8mpg.
Hope you can see why I might be a little confused.DrtyDiesel Thanks this.
