I think that's how they get new drivers, start a regional fleet, hire a bunch of folks and then disband it and graciously offer you OTR. Repeat when neccasary.

I checked the website. I noticed they don't define where the southeast is. I suspect it may include New England and Chicago.

I'm guessing anything in the quadrant East and South of Lincoln is fair game. Isn't Lincoln the Center of the Universe?

That's right! You remember the old joke...how do people from Lincoln change a light bulb? They hold the light bulb and the world revolves around them.:biggrin_25517:

Lone Ranger...your statement would assume they posses a map...everyone knows operations departments are forbidden from owning or allowed to be seen reading any kind of map or atlas. They would be denied membership in the OAA (Operations Association of America). Ever notice how once one company has a new rule, regulation, or method of doing something...then soon most companies are doing it the very same way...that's the OAA at work. In fact, I think it might actually be against the law in some of the states for them to have any kind of map.

BS (as far as the cams just going to problem drivers, and only a limited amount of trucks)

They will phase them into all the trucks eventually. They probably can't get enough to do all the trucks, now, and it would be a recruiting/retention nightmare.

How many trucks don't have the onguard system? (Only a few which have some crappy worse system they tried)

They will end up in all the Crete trucks within a few years. They have made a decision, but are playing 'smoke and mirrors' to confuse things.

They are telling lies, or being misleanding on purpose. The cams did not go strictly into the trucks of problem drivers, even in the test phase. They forced them on some drivers with good records. Stay in your fantasy world if you want to, this is what they want....until it's your turn to have a lens staring at you.

My problem is not with the cams, but as usual, with how crete manages them. Have fun! I look forward to the whines when more drivers are stuck with them.

I hired on with Crete back in 2007 and I was on the GP Dedicated lineup out of Rincon, GA. When that mysteriously dried up I was folded into "southeast regional" which included everything east of I35. A million mile driver with Crete told me "don't turn down any load that goes out of your region, they'll bring you back sooner or later" I kept running but my chief complaint was OTR still had up to three load offerings then, where "regional drivers" were exempt from this and just had to take what was given to us.

Unless you're local and home every evening or work for a private fleet with exact guidelines, expect the unexpected.

Remember the movie "Dante's Peak"...the scene where they are discussing "frog soup"...it went like this: "If you throw a frog in hot water, it'll jump right out, but put a frog in cool water and turn up the heat slowly, it'll stay until it's cooked...hey Harry, what is that, a recipe for frog soup..."...kinda what Crete is doing...making small changes over time until they get all their systems in place, all the while boasting about all the positives these new systems have for the driver...the changes are subtle and minor, but if you look at the big picture from the early days to now...makes you wonder why more of the froggies aren't jumping out of the Crete soup.

I heard that Crete lost a lot of drivers when they ended having pets in the trucks. I think they reinstated it because they need to keep drivers. I think if they went and put cameras in across the board it would have the same effect as taking away the pet policy.
