Raymond has all my info and it's all good..but what makes me apprehensive is when some one says "I don't know how so-and-so will make it with a new truck payment". I have been on my own for 8 yrs and I could pay for a new truck easily... It would require me to work more than 2 weeks a month that I do now pulling a flat most of the year and a reefer the rest. I would think paying for new equipment would be easy with established company such as Mercer.

I think it is, I pay $2,000 a month no problem I just want to get my title sooner, but a new truck might be harder for a new O/O than 1 buying their next trucktimc1134 Thanks this.

I have my own authority and know how to run my truck profitable but I'm looking to let some one else do the office work for a change....just don't want to struggle running my truck for a decent rate... my overhead is very low so I know I would be okay...just would like to be better than ok.

When I was in orientation there was a guy giving up his authority for the same reason, I feel I do well considering the time of year, last September when I started I was making money hand over fist, there is definitely good money to be made here

So how many of you deal with our agents directly? As in call them ahead of time and see if they can set up a specific run to say an area or from a certain shipper that you know pays well? My dealings with agents is somewhat limited being usually it is them calling me trying to get me to haul cheap freight or to do them some favor. So I'm just wondering how many of you initiate interaction with the agents and if it helps? It seems most of the drivers I run into are sitting around the truckstop waiting for the phone to ring. The problem is most of the time they are sitting around before I get there, and still there we I go to get loaded. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks.
