When I was a company schmuck in a company truck, I had my dispatcher go on vacation. I was under a multiple stop load. A stop near Dallas, one near Houston, New Braunsfel, and Lytle Texas. Knowing how slow desk jockeys are, and my 14 hour clock, I called dispatch 10 minutes from New Braunsfel.

'Hey, this is Six. When I get empty, which way do you want me to go?'

    "Are you empty now?"

'no, I'm on my way to the next to the last stop. I need to...'

"You're not empty. CALL WHEN YOU GET EMPTY."(CLICK)

Wow. He hung up on me. That Hole! I am going to be his new worst enemy. So I went to New Braunsfel, got delivered, and then hit Lytle. Got empty and called the desk jockey back.

'Hi, this is Six. I am empty. Where do we go from here?'

"Stand by driver. Let me look..."

'NO,THERE IS NO STANDBY. THIS IS WHY I CALLED YOU EARLIER. MY CLOCK IS TICKING, MY TIME IS IMPORTANT. WHICH WAY DO WE GO. I WANT TO PARK. I WANT TO EAT. I WANT TO SHOWER, I WANT MY NEXT LOAD LINED UP. WHY CANT YOU THINK? YOU SHOULD HAVE ALREADY HAD MY NEXT LOAD LINED UP. WHATS THE PROBLEM?'

"Umm driver, give me a second to..."

'NO, TIMES UP. I NEED TO KNOW NOW. THIS IS WHY I CALLED EARLIER. I WAS TRYING TO HELP YOU BUT YOU HUNG UP ON ME. I WAS TRYING TO PREVENT US FROM HAVING TO HAVE THIS CONVERSATION AT THE END OF MY DAY. IS THERE ANYONE AROUND THAT CAN THINK ON THEIR FEET? I DO MY JOB WELL, BUT IT SEEMS LIKE NOONE IN THE OFFICE CAN DO THEIR JOB. WHERE IS MY NEXT LOAD?FIND ME MY NEXT LOAD!'

What are they going to do...fire me? Write me up? They put you on elogs, and then work according to their schedule? Not working. I'm the one on elogs, we work according to my schedule. So what if you're a company driver. I would blow the phones up and light the Qualcomm up and bug the hell out of everyone in the office. Make them regret ever repowering your load. Be the driver they love to hate.

Who's butt do pissed off drivers kick if the dispatcher is a female?
On a somewhat related subject, I've heard of Big truck truck drivers who've
stormed into the dispatch area, with the intention of kickin' some dispatcher
buttox, --- only to land, hard, on their own, instead.
Imagine the embarrassment if the kicker of a Big truck trucker's buttox just
    happened to be a female.

    .........................>>!! :biggrin_25521: !!<<.........................

I'm thinkin' if someone captured video of such an event and submitted it to
    You-Tube, it'd go viral.
Then, ..... everywhere that Big truck truck driver went, folks would recognize
him, with mixed responses, no doubt.
And fame would follow 'em, for ever, ....... maybe even longer.

I have always done my job, never whined, and got the loads delivered on time, and have never taken any crap off of some idiot dispatcher thats not doing there job. But if a driver is screwing around out there then he doesnt have a leg to stand on.

    Sad, but true Rachi.
I can't fathom what would drive a driver to go that far.
I'm thinkin' that if anyone can imagine that, ---
it's a sign they need to set the parkin' brakes an' hang
up the drivin' gloves; at least 'till they get their
    imagination under control.
Then count to ten, --- just to be sure.

Part of a pre-trip inspection should include an
attitude check to assure that the temper is
    under control.
If found to be overly elevated, fix it first.
    Then proceed.

That can only end well. Better hope nobody in the office is packing, or at least that you're a better shot.

Better yet, follow Aftershock's advice of an attitude adjustment, maybe find a career more suited to your temperament.

They think you are a slave but youre not. Sometimes rejecting a load can be a wake up call for them. Do what you got to do driver and don't sweat the nay sayers. There are a ton of driving jobs out there and anyone that wont hire you because you refused a load is a place you don't want to work for anyway.

That said there are plenty of ways to get rid of a load without rejecting it. Just be creative, or in my case eat the ranch dressing at the Petro.
