So, a little trick with that is to go through the gate, go to the receiving office and give them the paper work and payment and then go put the trailer in the door. A lot of times they will ask if you have already done all of that. If not, they'll ask you to put it in the door and then call them so they can release the packet to the receiving manager. Whether you are on time or not is based on when you arrive at that window. Once they process your packet, your on time.

Seriously, all the DCs have better and worse locations. 90% of the battle is learning their quirks and becoming less of your own problem.

I never miss a chance to make him famous.

That wasn't at Walmart, butt he was having some kind of issue with his load number or appointment or something. He ended up taking 15 minutes to hash that out and leave angry and without his load. Then I checked in and was on a door 5 minutes later. It was no miracle. I was an hour early, had my load number, and didn't look/act like a thug or a homeless person at the window.

I'm polite no matter where I go, even the evil Walmart. My job is to pick up and deliver freight, and even if the people are scumbags, I still have my job to do. Besides, some of them would love to get under your skin. I'll never give them the pleasure.

Just curious, is Walmart changing their name? To something like "Morganmart"?

Every once in awhile I think about going to a smaller/reefer company. Then I remember that I don't have to live unload at Walmart, ever (or Target, for that matter) and hardly ever have to go to a grocery warehouse. It's all a matter of perspective I guess.

Most produce is received early am... 3am-10am ish, varies slightly by DC. All produce loads are inspected by QC team, they inspect a small % of the each item. So a load of grapes with 1920 ctns will have maybe 4-5 ctns inspected. The QC team is generally gone home by around 10am.

there a guidelines, that all DCs go by. Your appointment time is for when you hit your door, you need to check into the guard shak by 1 hr before your appointment. So if your appointment is 5am, check in at 4am. If you check in late, but still within an hour of your appt then you will be unloaded at end of shift. If your more than an hour late, then they move you to next day.

Each door had a timer over the door, with big red numbers. The goal is to clear you from the door in 90minutes, there is a receiving coach who walks the platform in a red jacket whose role is to clear you before the clock hits zero.

The the only time you will be held over is if there is a quality issue, then sometimes you are held till they see if usda needs to be called or other remedies.

this is produce... I don't know about other perishables.

For or those of you that think kroger is better, try sitting in Memphis or Houston for 8-10 hours in door.

From experience, WalMart produce/fruit loads are received early in the morning up to say maybe 10am as that is when the quality inspectors go home. Most unloads take a minimum of 2hrs (rare) up to 6-7hrs (common) and don't be late.
