get the right kind of winter gear and you wont even notice the cold

you need a water/wind proof hardshell jacket (marmot or north face)

a down puffy coat (650 down fill or higher)

    a fleece 1/4 zip pullover

and a synthetic undershirt (underarmour or nike dri-fit)..short sleeve.

and a pair of insulated ski pants to throw on over your jeans. North face with gore-tex or similar.

a nice pair of gore-tex or down insulated work boots that are waterproof to keep the feet warm (hiking boots also work really well and give you great traction and are very comfortable).

and a pair of these (good to -20 and waterproof). on amazon for $40

also a pair of Sahalie's Toasty Feet InSoles will help keep your feet warm at 72* all day every day.

Most of that outerwear that you listed will catch and tear or get cut easily. I use nothing but Carhart for outer wear as it lasts years for me.

OP- If you think -5 is cold then try it with a 40 mph wind...

depends on how much of a clutz a person is lol.

but it will definitely keep a person warm.

or sub the hardshell for a carhart jacket. the rest should be fine.

Carhartt hoody with a welding jacket over it works good for me.

Notice what the folks wear that work for the electric utilities wear. Talk to one working a winter outage and noticd what they wear. Mostly carhart and some ll bean. There carhart is not sold in MOST department stores.

6 weeks flatbedding after 8 years teaming pulling doubles - my back has never felt better, seriously. Used to go to the chiropractor every 4-6 weeks, haven't felt the need yet. Muscles getting stronger, wife says tummy is reducing.

Makes me feel like a worker - contributing, more connection to the world - rather than just safely holding a steering wheel.

Go for it - you'll love it.

And when the shipper says 'no person shall be on top of the load or you will be asked to leave,' believe them. They mean it.
