I read an article recently that California is down to its last year of water reserves in the reservoirs, lakes and rivers. I am hearing about people sharing the same bath water over and over then siphoning it out into buckets to take and water their yard. Some people are setting up grey water capture from their washers, dishwashers and sinks/tubs/showers to use in watering their landscaping.

Folks California is in real bad shape and they are going to need Your help- anything at all you can do please come to California's aid.

    Why?
They don't really seem to be interested in helping themselves.

On another note, there isn't anything that any trucker can do to really help.
If in CA, do we take a shower only every two weeks to save a little water? Because that is about it.
    Meanwhile, they shower every day.

If CA is turning into a desert, then it does.
If coastal areas get flooded by global warming, then they do.

    We adapt, or we die.
    Simple, and period.
And really, no big deal. Move to another area.

WI has enough trouble of its own

I was in Lodi last week when a local came to the TS to pick me up and take me to church
I was asking him about the water shortage
He said he didn't know he still had water when he turned on the faucet :biggrin_2557:

Holy gavel pounding Batman...politics and ecology in the chaining thread!

Anyway...back to the actual topic: north bound (I-5) Sunday morning...almost a white out through Dunsmuir, now Weed on the other hand, was 15 degrees warmer and not even getting a sprinkle of rain. Snow plow was patiently waiting for anything to stick to the ground...he didn't move of course, since nothing was sticking. Above the road elevation at Siskiyou, a little was staying on the trees, but wet/dry pavement. Haven't heard what 80 got, but probably the same.

I still think Pete and I should be trucking snow from the North East to CA. There could be 12 more inches here tonight. uuuggg - enuf already. Had another local roof collapse again this morning from the weight of it all. This IS April isn't it ........ ?

OK then....interesting morning! About 3-4 inch accumulation over Siskiyou, and it starts snowing at the Weed airport, an inch or so accumulation at Weed then over the little hill and BAMMMMMM.....4-6 inches everywhere....including my hood! Large/huge wet flakes falling from the sky...all the way to the top (north end) of Lake Shasta [for those of you who know I-5, that would be Lakehead]....rain - sleet through Redding and rain lets up by Red Bluff. Reader sign shows "Chain info Hwy 36 AM 1610"...coastal range got clobbered too!

Called Significance who checked on the I-80 (Donner) situation....chains required from Nyack to DLI,and 50 was Twin Bridges to Meyers chains. She checked out the cameras and they were stopping all traffic at the scales (Truckee) due to white out conditions (and spin outs) at Castle Peak (just west of the summit).

It will all be gone by Thurs-Fri! Pffft!!!!
