TA - Effingham IL

    I've never stopped here before until yesterday and I'm really glad I did. Their parking lot is pretty big and with many of the IdleAire units removed it's possible to pull through and go under the support structure instead of backing into a spot.

    I hit up the restaurant on a very slow afternoon. I think there was only 4 in the driver's area (the "other" side was more busy). Because of this my waitress, Tracy, and I think the restaurant assistant manager (another lady) had the time to actually talk with us drivers and as a result had a really nice lunch.

    Then I hit up the store for a few things for the road. The two ladies working the checkout were really nice and pleasant as well.

    Bathrooms were clean. The place itself looked clean.

    ..I just wonder why I never stopped sooner. I'm glad I did today though.

    Oh!! and I got the soup and salad bar with my lunch and the chicken noodle soup actually had a healthy amount of noodles in it! I couldn't believe it. Other TA's I've stopped at were very much lacking in noodles in their chicken noodle soup. This one was like..chicken and double-noodle soup. It was wonderful. :)

    I stopped in Effingham recently and decided to check out the TA. It is sad that the restaurant is longer there and food court is in its place. That being said, there are plenty of restaurants within walking distance.

    The trend of TA switching from sit-down and fast food to fast food only is irritating me. ###, if I want fast food only, I'll go to Peelot or Love's.

    Does it matter if they hand you your fast food in a bag or put it down in front of you on a plate ... except for egg dishes and pancakes ... pretty much everything at the iron country garbage comes out of a bag or a box pre cooked and is heated up in a microwave. Not much better than MREs.

    I'm at that TA a lot, too many restaraunts nearby too eat truck stop slop.
    But the Duncan Donuts makes a good breakfast sandwich and good donuts, love the French Croullier👴🏿

    Having fast food at the TAs does not bother me. Having them set the prices 20% more than what you can find at the same fast food place elsewhere does.

    they only do it because they can get away with it. If drivers would do what Tucker suggested and eat elsewhere, they'd have to do something different.

    (The following paragraph was inspired by a bit from The Bob and Tom show) I've heard the Effinghouse restaurant has great effing deals on good effing steaks, scrumptious effing baby back ribs, and even delicious effing pies made daily...it's effing worth the trouble to find them. Plenty of effing parking, and the effing buffet is effing out of this world. The effinghouse breakfast menu starts at 5 effing a.m.

    Just a question if you are a normal patron the TA restraunts this cant really be a stumper could it? Ever wonder why when you walk in and its you and 3 other drivers sitting there? Its not cause the food is fantastic is it?
