Yeah, the new wreck today has claimed at least one life. Not sure how that one happened. Had to be limited visibility...that area is pretty flat and you can see for miles.

A driver from Quebec has been detained and charged with aggravated vehicular homicide in connection with the crash.

Dense fog and light slush conditions contributed. Tanker carrying Butyl Cellusove went up in flames and it took hours to put it out. Not sure when they will finish cleaning up and investigating the scene. 59 vehicles were involved.

All in all a very bad day for all involved, prayers for them. Again a situation where keeping your speed within what the conditions give you and keeping a safe following distance is so very important.

Two videos from the accident near Cheyenne:

Meanwhile instead of heading north from Denver after getting loaded up I headed west on I-70 in the late afternoon. Amazing difference, with bare and wet conditions the whole way except for the sections at the top of the passes where I'm sure at nightfall it will freeze up and be pretty slick. Sure glad I had the heads up from this thread and checked Wyoming DOT before heading out.

Yeah, I thought it the better part of valor to simply let that be.

I'll be following this to see what comes out in the reports about what he did that resulted in that charge.

If your truck completely breaks down you can burn one or two candles in your sleeper to produce heat. It wont keep you warm but it will keep you from freezing to death, even if the temp outside is way below 0.
