I was going through an initial interview with a company yesterday that mentioned they slip seat. They asked if I had a problem with it, not really sure I'm new to this. So I gather that anytime I go home I have to completely empty the truck out? Clothes, food, towels, cooking utensils, etc... How does that work If the company only has 2 yards on the West Coast? I park at the yard, spend 2 hours emptying the truck and then drive 400 miles home? What am I missing?

Your not missing much. OTR slip seat, no thanks. I hate slip seat of any kind.
ramblingman, Steel Maverick and browndawg Thank this. -
Who would spend half of their time off unloading/loading and driving home and back?
ramblingman Thanks this. -
Slip seating is the pits. The trucks are beat up and filthy. Nobody gets anything fixed...not their problem. Not to mention the health aspect, sleeping on a filthy mattress. I'd take the job if you had to but would seriously look for a company with assigned trucks. I've always enjoyed taking pride in my assigned trucks and operating them as if I owned them.
Daycabs are a whole 'nother story though, since you aren't living in them. Many companies will at least assign two drivers to a daycab. One day and the other night. That way they can at least leave the basics in there when going home. Tools, paperwork, CB, sat radio, etc
I would not take a job that slip seated trucks, personally.Steel Maverick, ramblingman, Toomanybikes and 1 other person Thank this. -
I saw a video on YouTube of a driver slip seating a day cab. Pretty much they all share trucks for the 14 hrs they drive so I clock out you clock in grab a it and go. Visa versa. It's pretty stupid. Some people smoke some don't, some are pigs some are clean.mi would never.

Didn't sound very appealing when they told me, I'm kind of a neat freak, especially when it comes to other peoples 'smells' I'll take the advice and continue looking.

My grammar is all over the place. Sorry lol. But, anyways where in SoCal are you?
-
I live in Huntington Beach, but moving to Boise as soon as I find a job that either hires out of SoCal and Boise or just Boise.

Gotcha. Was just wondering what kind of a job you were looking for weather it be otr, or local. The company I work for(American building supply) local company they have one in LA somewhere I work for the Sacramento division. But, if you were looking for local I would suggest them. As far as equipment pay benefits etc. of course it's a little less than otr, but money is there.
