just out of curiosity. Did they make you do a little question are thing? Asking if you snored. Or got tired. Etc? If so did you answer yes to any of this. I only ask cuz sometimes that makes them do a sleep apnea thing too. But then again. It was in Cali. He probably getting a kick back.

First of all, I never stated that I was a "great" driver. 2nd, online some people who seem to be the expert on all things while online, I learn new things every day while on the road. 3rd since you weren't the one doing my flipping pretrip, don't assume that the trailer had been dropped 3 months ago. It was yesterday, one tire was blown and all that was left was a bare wheel, two others were completely bald. 4th, I will never ever set a student up to where they risk getting a ticket due to someone else's incompetence. And one FACT is that if you are running trailers with out of date inspections, you are wrong. They can take the load off me if they want, but I run by the book. I still get miles so spare me the bs excuses. Thanks for the advice, but like you, I have been here for a few years.

If you want to give it another shot I would try this location:

Concentra Urgent Care - Airport LAX

    6033 W Century Blvd.
    Ste. 200
    Los Angeles, CA 90045

They are super lenient. I don't want to go into too much detail but they went above and beyond to help me pass my physical and get a 2yr card.

As far as the trailer situation goes, you're both right. Each situation is different. I found an old MS Carriers 99 series trailer that had obviously been sitting for a while. I didn't take it because the left and right side turn signal lights had been ... I'll be nice and say removed ... as had two of the four rear lights. I reported it by calling breakdown and was told that it had been reported by several previous drivers. Another situation was at a dollar general dc this past winter. It had obviously been dragged around the property with either the brakes frozen or locked by the skid marks leading to its resting place. I was asked to take it to a loves near by, which I did, all eight tires had to be replaced. It was a hassle but I got some great points out of it. It would be hard to say that a swift driver caused either situation.

Now, I definitely agree that a damaged trailer that was dumped by a careless driver should result in a service failure, that should be reserved for obvious cases where the damage was either readily apparent or caused by something the driver did. But, it's hard to say how and when something happened without a witness.

I simply ply try to do my best to take care of the equipment I use and report damage I see. I'll leave the spanking to those in Phoenix who get paid to police their employees. Just my two cents.

Wait to go to Lubbock Texas, appointment at 1800.130 miles away then dead all way to Lancaster to pick up a t-call. On trailer issues I don't get pissed off at other driver over a flat tire or a burnt out light. Its when 2 tires are racing slicks or the trailer has obvious damage that just didn't happen sitting there pisses me off. Only get irritated if the trailer inspection sticker is over a year old since last inspection. Also any one do the swift university camera thing View attachment 83376

Swift policy regarding sleep apnea is to use a height - weight chart to determine BMI . If your Body Mass Index is above 35 Swift considers you at risk for OSA and you will be required to lose weight to lower your BMI or get a sleep study .

Sleep apnea is a danger for a truck driver but using a simple chart is "one size fits all " medicine . From the corporate viewpoint I can understand using the chart to standardize the risk evaluation . I have weighed 250 pounds for about 30 years and at 6 feet my BMI was less than 35 . As a normal part of the aging process combined with bouncing over terrible roads for years , I am now 2 inches shorter and my BMI is now over 35 .

Even though I display none of the symptoms of OSA , I now have a 90 day medical and need to drop 14 pounds . Short of getting an expensive sleep study done I have no choices simply due to a "one size fits all " chart .

On the other hand , while OSA is a seriously debilitating condition, having the system available to deal with it is life changing . I believe Wolfy and Doc Watson would agree .

Scottie , we drive for Swift and are required to abide by Swift policy or leave . It is immaterial what the FMCSA regulation may be . Swift can make whatever policy they want so long as it isn't a violation of FMCSA regulation .

Yes I agree, I was just saying go somewhere in a hurry and get the 2 year card quick and file it with the DMV. Swift doesn't even need to know about it. In this way a driver will not have any time stress on top of other stress trying to jump through the Sleep Apnea testing hoops. If he gets to the 90th day and this isn't resolved to Swift's satisfaction, he still has 1 year and 9 months left on his medical card and can still be in play for other driving jobs after.

Rockwall TX. I remember today why I hate I-35 from Austin to Dallas. Bad during the week but Friday even worse. This afternoon when parked I got to call into our complaint department and report one of our company drivers. Right there at I-635 and the ramp to get on I-30 he waited until the last moment to merge and no turn signal and just came right over and came within 3 feet of taking my bumper with him at the same time. A total case of not wanting to wait like the rest of us to get off. I swear today that there was a sign on the back of my trailer that said when don passing it is okay to hurry and cut me off when coming back over and slow down.
