I always loved the old IH cabovers. I owned an early '74 low cab 4070A, two '79 4070B's, a '94 9700 high rise double bunk, and driven many more from a first gen CO4000 before they were called Transtars, an Emeryville, a mid 80's 9670, not including three generations of IH hoods that I either owned or drove. That doesn't count the straight trucks, 1600, 1700, and S1950 series I have owned. Not to thrilled with the Prostars though. They seemed to be equal or just a small step above a Sterling/Ford.
Worse thing about the old 4070 models is after a few hours driving there wasn't enough room to slide the seat back so my legs could stretch, and also my hair would brush one end of the bunk while my toes touched the other when trying to sleep.

I have never had a major problem with her. Aside from fuel, tires are my next biggest expense. Those that I know that have had problems with the DD15 motor were trying to save a few pennies by not getting DEF filter changed or cleaned at the 300k interval. I have been going back and forth with doing an inframe or buying a new truck. If I by new I'm sticking with the Cascadia. I think the amount I saved in fuel over my first truck has probably paid for this truck. And from what I'm reading the new Cascadias are getting a solid 2+ mpg more then mine loaded at 80k.Bad Monkey Thanks this.

Hey got a question. I'm working my way to Louisville now. Gonna make it 2 day trip no rush lol. My clutch rattles a little. Is this just the bolt under the dash?
-
Do you mean the clutch peddle rattles? Then it's somewhere in the linkage, easy fix. Or its the rattle coming from the clutch itself? If that's the case, give that their out bearing a couple pumps of grease. If it still rattles, you will probably need to consider replacing it. Honestly tho, it's not a big deal. Ive seen them rattle for years and never finally give out.
A note about grease and clutches. Use a hand pump. Not the air powered one's. Same with your scan bushings. And never ever let a truck stop gear your truck. They will always miss half the zerk fittings. And over grease the ones they find.TruckerPete1990 Thanks this. -
It's just the petlle if I use my foot n pull up it goes away lol. I had my windoW down do I didn't hear it. Then the bee flew in so up went window lol.

What model truck? I've had the same problem with mine for years. Have to replace a piece in the linkage then it's good for 2-3 years before the rattle gets too noticeable again.

its a 2007 int 9400i. Is there a shop near the yard that fair price? My apu starts but the Ac/Heat/Fan's wont work on it.Now my bunk fans even while truck is idling wont work and they just was into i started pulling fuses lol..

I remember my old Pete broke a piece of the clutch linkage at just under 2 million miles. Was just under a hundred bucks for the part. A week later I was in tractor supply and saw identical pieces for tractors. 10 bucks replaced the other linkage piece. I decided then that the dealer is the last resort from then on out.

There's a reason they are called stealerships.

Yeah, I just went to Speedco to have my fuel filters replaced on this one for the first time (should have done it sooner, the fuel/water seperator filter was sludgy, but oh well). It was $100 to change the filters and lube the truck/trailer (about $50 for the filters, $50 for the labor), talked to another driver who has had a hard time finding someone who carries the filters for these new 2016 T680s so he took it to the stealership, they charged him over $100 just for the filters and sent him on the way to have them changed elsewhere.
