    Hogan is so-so.

They're main business is truck leasing, they just happen to also be in the reefer work.
A lot of their work is dedicated. They run a dollar general dedicated account, super values (Save-a-lot) and some other things in the NE. Specifically a lot of that work is coming out of Austinburg, OH and Columbus.

I live in Willoughby, and interviewed over in Austinburg, I went to orientation in Columbus, was offered a dedicated super value job. After I put my ear to the ground with the drivers at the Columbus terminal, I walked away from the offer.

What you can expect with the local jobs is 14 hour days, with him running around 400'ish miles, making around .30-.35 cpm. A lot of office bureaucracy, a lot of confusion on dispatching. Terminal managers are coming and going in under 6 months typically.

Can't tell you much about OTR, other than they rarely live up to getting their drivers home every two weeks, and the trucks don't idle.

All in all, it might be worth looking at other offers, if he can.

Tell him to stick it out with Hogan for 12 months.
A&R Transport is an excellent company that requires 12 months experience. He can go there and make $65K per year. They have a terminal in Columbus.
Good company, beautiful equipment, good benefits.

There's also Bulkmatic; another $65K per year company with a terminal in Columbus.

Also these he can go to after 6 mos with Hogan:

    Superior Carriers
Trimac Transportation (Elite fleet drivers make $80K)
    Tidewater Transit
    SVTN
