I've got electrical tape over my check engine, it'll drive you nuts at night

I had a load load of reels that needed 13 chains n binders. I was pretty upset that day. The agent had called me and offered to pay my 250 mile deadhead to take the load on top of the $2.5 a mile (as I recall but that might be what I got for all miles). Anyway called me again when I was about 50 miles from the pickup asking if I had 13. I wasn't to happy with the agent that day. I went ahead and bought some chains and binders and made a note about not hauling for that agent again. But ever since then the same agent has treated me VERY well so now I've marked it up as a rookie mistake on my part and learned to ask more questions when agents call asking for a helping hand.

I've only hauled one that I picked up 5 I made due but that would be the correct way. I will probably go with my 10 and pick up a couple at orientation. All mine are 5/16 probably wouldn't hurt to have a couple 3/8 anyway.

That's been pretty common in my flatbed experience in general. I've had to pick odds & ends all over. It's almost impossible to have everything you'll need for every load. I've had to find a Lowe's store more than once lol

3/8 doesn't do any good if the tie down at the trailer isn't rated for it. That's often the "weakest link" in the ratings. -
I would think that's a typo

Oh I learned that week one of flatbedding. From buying extra rail wenches (the fontaine trailer doesn't come with enough esp in the rear of the trailer), straps, blankets, vboards and on and on. But I expected this as I was very new when I made the switch to flats. Now, anytime I see a load that requires special/extra equip. I make a note of it and pick up the equipment as soon as I find it. I still have to pass on a good paying load here and there but it's becoming less and less often. However having to pass on a $12k load yesterday almost brought a tear to my eye.

Ouch! I'd say that would upset anybody

Who's making a trailer with tie downs rated with less than 7700 wwl? I've pulled Fontaine and East I know that's what there's are rated at.
