Ah my favorite question. I am slightly biased but have worked on both companies products. Without getting to a big debate, TK will be my pick for trailer units. Truck units I have not seen alot of Carriers to make a debate. If I were a owner operator, I would own a sb210 with a tier1 Yanmar with a Utility 3000R. I can elaborate if needed but servicing both....tk.

Thermo King hands down for me....Just seem more reliable out of the ones I have pulled over the years.
My company just bought 2016 trailers with Carrier units....already having problems with them brand new.

On the Florida freight the only decent thing I have found the last few weeks is live plant loads.......averaging about 2 bucks a mile.
Not the greatest but will get you out of there.

TK would get my money. The carrier units we pull feel like you've drifted over and hit the rumble strip when it starts up going down the road. The TK we pull are generally way more quiet and they don't have thay blinding green light in your mirror.

I am doing multi temp load 99% and so far Carrier is doing a really good job.
We do use multiple probes to verify temp and always dead on.
Sure Carrier is noisier than TK but the way Carrier are maintaining temp i have to opt for them.

Was wondering why a Utility 3000R vs a Great Dane Super Seal, do prefer TK Units. Scan0009.jpg

Does anyone have an estimate how many hours a reefer unit will run a year and based on how many miles? I see some 2012 Carrier units with only 5000 hours. These units are from big fleets where trailers aren't used all the time. I was more interested in O/O's figures.

For older used market, TK gets my vote.

This should really be a sticky of some sort. I understand that this sub forum does not get alot of traffic, but we should really have this be permanent
