That's a pretty good figure these days. It's actually rather optimistic, as companies are trying to cut their expenses to the bone, given the current oil market morass. Fewer newbies will be hired, as newbies (supposedly) mean higher insurance rates for outfits that aren't self-insured. If you're a new grad, you may have to accept lower pay to land a job at many companies.

Theoretically, this is how it works, but the real world doesn't come close to working this way. What you may have learned in pie-in-the-sky economics class doesn't describe reality.

I can tell you how it REALLY works, if you so desire.

The only bad thing I can say about CRETE is the home time. PERIOD. I make .42 cpm and get 3000 every month.... Not to many companies can offer you that, with great shippers and consignee's mostly drop and hook.... DRIVE SAFE

You mean 3000/wk right? And you're lucky if you do a lot of drop/hook. I have gone 2-3 weeks with the same trailer, then once you start switching trailers, you get on a roll. Then it all stops and you're stuck with the same trailer for a while.(usually one that dog-tracks so bad you can read the name on the one side, and can't see the other side in you mirrors)

Ya, sorry..... 3000 a week. I just had a dead spot! I delivered in Auburn WA. Tuesday morning then sat until Thursday afternoon! Load to Texas. I dont sit much at all, and this surprised me, but I know the west coast is drying up with freight, I hope the midwest and east dont slow down! DRIVE SAFE

Especially the north west. Southern CA isn't quite as bad, especially with us hauling Kawasaki out of Ontario. With the increase in fuel cost, seems like the motorcycle companies are seeing an increase in sales.

I havent been paying too much attention to this thread, but I will try to read up on Cretes goods and bads on here over the next couple of days. I just got a letter from a recruiter. dry van is at 38 a mile, reefer is at 39 and flat bed at 35cpm.

But then they have something metioned in one of their pages where your cpm is dropped 1cpm below the starting pay for the first six months?

Im not looking to change right now as I figure in order to make what Im making now, I would need to get a tad under 2750 miles a week with them.

Although i would like to see what they have available as I see one driver who parks his truck for 4-5 days at a time over here at the local mall.

I started at the right time, I started at .42 cpm then a few months later they dropped it. Im not sure exactly what the top pay is though.

:biggrin_2553:today was my last day at crete. do not like going so slow but have enjoyed the miles but need to be home more. have been on a dedicated gm account with a lot of drop/hook picked up my last ld in yoder in 2 dlvr n chattanooga tn recvd a msg to stop n indy 4 a drug and alcohol (random???) test. only one i have done since i've been here. overall not a bad company but i want to be home more get paid 4 holidays and hopefully get better and quicker service on my truck. if u want miles gm has them and they are preplanned and normally drop/hook and they don't mess with you:biggrin_25519:
