Pump to pump that's good! I have been using 6 mpg for my average. Barring anything mechanical 6 mpg is my lowest, which is why I use it. I have a philosophy that fuel economy should benefit me and nobody else. If I use 6 mpg, I know my costs prior to booking a load, anything extra is mine!
Even with freight rates being down compared to last year, if a guy is willing to leave his parameters wide open on willingness to do things, could I expect to avg 2.00 a mile or would that be high starting off at mercer?
How many miles are you expecting that $2 on? What do you need to gross per week? Everyone can say yes, including me to $2/mile, but if your expenses exceed your gross, then you won't be happy! $2/mile at 1200 miles/week is a lot different than $2/mile at 2500 miles/week.
Here is my opinion. Which, obviously some disagree with. That might be a bit high starting out, but once you get in the swing of things and figure out what works for you, it shouldn't be hard to average that number. about the only time I don't do that is my first load out of Florida. also assuming you got a regular old flat. Not a step or van. And I'm also assuming you got half a brain cell still working.
