I would guess his day's of driving 18 wheelers are finished for good. On the bright side the minimum wage will soon be $15 per hour. Probably be making more working at Burger Chef then he ever would driving for US XPRESS.

Every day is a learning experience.
    You learn something every day.
And god known what is the next crazy thing you see on the road next.

I understand that one is going to slip by every once in a while. But when a student of yours, such as Joe, has problems right out of the gate, Swift should put that in your personnel file. If there becomes a pattern of your trainees having issues early on, then you are not a good trainer. Or at a minimum, not a good judge of when someone is ready for their own truck. And should be removed from being a trainer. Don't take it personal, I'm only using you as an example because you chimed in. Glad to hear your side.

I, also, realize that starter companies hold trainers to a sometimes unreasonable time schedule. And I say sometimes unreasonable because not everyone learns at the same rate. And 6 weeks may not cut it for John Doe. And Jim Brown may be ready in 2 weeks. I got out of training 2 weeks early when I didn't wreck the truck with a 48K lb coil on the deck when we hit a deer at 2 in the morning with my trainer in the passenger seat crapping his pants.

Why was the trainee, picking up a trainer? That just sounds backwards to me. I'd also think, that it would be really hard to train after working a full shift at another job. How much sleep does that trainer get??

I feel like this story is a fail on the driver and company. Unless I'm mistaken and most companies have the trainee picking up the trainer. I'm brand new to trucking so I could be missing something here, and if I am I apologize.

Usx can afford this mess. I was taught that if you're unsure of what's behind the store, take a walk......and look....brilliant concept

The worst part is the Feds giving CRE the green light to let trainees to drive solo without a CDL....
