It's funny, I wonder if it's better to make Crete your first or second company. Work someplace for 4 months, do 4 weeks training with Crete for 600 a week, then make 9 CPM more than if you had come on as a student. I came here a few months ago, my buddy has been here since we graduated CDL school together. He's making 34, I'm making 42, lol.

It's all a personal choice, you have to go through training twice but you end up making more money quicker.

Here's the real question... what if you start with Crete but quit after 4 months, then a week later get hired back at Crete with 4 months experience... then hey look you got a pay raise of 9 CPM by quitting and coming back lmao!

Werner ~vs~ USX? I kinda was wondering the same thing... There are both terminals within miles of a 'home base' for some and their lots would be perfect for the truck to park in while they are doing 'home time'.... I did hear that USX is trying to hire more women too and are as fair as can be expected with them as well...... Anyone have positives on those reports?

These are two of worst companies out there. When you work through all the propaganda they spew out, it's hard to find any truth in anything they say. Werner does not care about their drivers at all and USX is too busy shooting themselves in the foot. Putting inexperienced / unqualified teams together to maximize their profit.

If I had to choose between US Express and Werner, I think I might choose suicide. I agree that Crete is an ok company, especially for a new driver. I was at Crete for 18 years. They are better than most megas.

Putting you d ick on a window sill and PAYING someone else to slam the window on it would be better than EITHER of those choices. Was this a serious question????????????????

US Xpress has an ad in my area (Dayton, OH) for a dedicated, home-daily job, which sounds really good to me. It's the Meijer DC in Tipp City, OH delivering to their stores within a couple hundred miles. Of course, I have no idea of the pay, but I am assuming that this would be a purely solo job given the distances involved. Does this sound reasonable? Anyone have any firsthand knowledge?

Here's the ad if anyone is interested:

It wouldn't be a horrible job. If you need experience. I started out at usx, 4 months in I'm going to jb hunt. I probably would have choose Crete but they want me to do 6 weeks of training. Not going to do training again, I need my space. Anyway that dedicated route you'll probably like more than otr. I talked to people who enjoyed the dedicated routes. Good luck!
