You'll get a monthly mile bonus, quarterly mile bonus, monthly fuel bonus, quarterly safety bonus, yearly safety bonus, it all ads up and as you can see pays off. Makes DHT well worth it. Not to mention the small stuff that becomes big stuff

I call my planner, I tell him my name and usually knows my voice.. Never need a truck number.
I have a break down, its taken care of immedietly
If I'm in the shop for 24 hours. I get a hotel AND they will pay you for 500 miles as a solo and 1k as a team.
Home time... Don't get me started. I've had no less then 35 days off this year. I run hard till I make my miles and then I come home for the most part. I did what they want me too.
Long hauls. Font get me wrong, I get some short ones as well but my last 3 dispatches we're 2200, 1400, 2400 with deadhead of course.. Still total average miles is up there.

I'll put the money I make at DHT against anyone. Its not the most but well above most companies. Especially a so called mega.. Or sub mega with 450 trucks... Also nice equipment is new... Oldest trucks are 12s and those are all being traded on 16s...

    unholy7 and Kolorado Thank this.

Sounds like your happy there, and making good money to boot. It's a good feeling. If I didn't have a baby on the way I'd be hitting the road! $1000+ a week and long haul miles sounds amazing.

When I was done with Werner, after a long battle over truck problems, I had someone pick me up at the terminal where I originally got the truck. I was empty and not under dispatch. Gave the keys to the shop foreman at 2 am, and called my dispatcher the next day. I got calls for about a week wanting me to stay.
Nothing on my DAC about not giving notice.

    Kolorado Thanks this.

My cat still enjoys pooping on the incline created from the "how to respect your coworker" CD collection conway sent me tucked under his box.

You're complaining because you feel like it's not your job to call a broker?

Kolorado,. I left Werner this year too. You are correct that most dispatcher there talk extremely disrespectful to drivers. That was always my biggest headache, not the traffic. Keep us posted on your time at DH. I'm taking a break for a month or so , decide which company is best for me, then will go back out. From what I've read so far DH sounds good, but things change & what some experience doesn't always apply to all drivers at a company. We know that from Werner right? Dispatcher have their favorites.

Yeah... his next job will probably be dispatching new drivers at DHT in about 2 weeks.

Now, THAT would be a funny reunion I would pay to see!! The look on both of their faces!

My carrier handles all communication with brokers. Brokers are not allowed to have access to driver's phone numbers to prevent brokers from calling the driver at inopportune times. Plus, dispatch is better able to deal with any issues that may come up on a broker load.

I am one of the very few drivers permitted to call the broker if there is an issue, and that is due to my having spent a bit of time working the dispatch side of the desk. And even then, I only do it on the simple stuff (like directions). Any issues with pick up or delivery are taken up through my dispatcher. She is better trained, way more experienced, and far more patient with broker BS than I am.
