I posted about breaking up an argument between drivers this morning in TruckDuo's thread at the Love's in Santa Rosa, NM this morning and was wondering what you would have done.
Typical Love's in the early morning with half the fuel islands taken up by drivers not fueling. I start to fuel in the #18 pump. See a truck pulling a contract mail trailer park in front of the parked trucks behind the fuel island, waiting for the next available fuel island. He saw I was the only one fueling so he was obviously waiting for me while trying not to block the driveway. For some reason instead of going around him, a CRST driver stops behind him. Other trucks stop behind him and before long, the driveway was blocked. Since the CRST driver parked right up on the rear end of the mail truck, he couldn't go around and with trucks behind him.
The CRST driver started blowing his airhorn, keep in mind it was before 7am. The other driver turned his signal on to indicate he was going for the fuel island.
The CRST driver gets out of his truck and starts screaming obscenities at the mail truck driver. The mail truck driver told him that he had no right to talk to him in that manner. They were right in each others faces.
I ran up and put my hands on their chests and pushed them apart.
Told them to chill out. Asked the mail truck driver if he needed to fuel. When he said yes, I told him I was done and I'd be pulling out. The CRST driver went back to his truck without saying a word.
I pulled out and parked. Walked back in and the mail truck driver and his team partner were fueling. He shook my hand and thanked me for helping diffuse the situation. I said it would help if these drivers who weren't fueling would park. I told him most of them were stopped and had been since I started fueling.
So what would have you done?
What would you have done?

Jumped in the CRST truck while the driver was out looking like a Muppet.
Backed his truck up a little, then rammed the nearest solid concrete object.
Ran off giggling like a girl.
Tee hee hee!rank, KANSAS TRANSIT, Pullin2 and 13 others Thank this. -

I would've made a video and uploaded it to WorldStarHipHop.
Swedish Chef, RedForeman, BostonTanker and 1 other person Thank this. -
Well first thing I would have done was jump out of my truck like my pants were on fire, run inside the truck stop and see if they had fresh pop corn ready. And if they didn't, by golly, I would have been so pissed off, that I'd run back to my truck and drive away..!
Cranky Yankee Thanks this. -
Not your beef. I'd have finished my fueling task and stayed out of it. No need in risking anything when it's not your direct concern. It turned out Ok, but it just as easily could have turned out bad (for whoever was trying to insert themselves into the situation)
austinmike and Puppage Thank this. -
Pullin2 Thanks this.

I'd like to say I would do what you did PackRat.
...I would like to.
But I have no idea what I would've done.
I think you did the right thing. Though I like the idea @blairandgretchen came up with...KANSAS TRANSIT and blairandgretchen Thank this. -
I would have let them kill each other.
RedForeman, HalpinUout and G.Anthony Thank this. -
Nothing. It'd be a waste of time and energy for something that had nothing to do with me.
G.Anthony and HalpinUout Thank this. -
Seems to me CRST are the worst offenders for blocking fuel pumps. About 75% of the time when I'm trying to get fuel they are the ones that are using the fuel lanes for parking spots. A few days ago I was stuck behind one after fueling, finally got tired of it and started walking to his truck to tell him to move. When I got about 10 feet from his door he hauled ###.
fatherofthree, blairandgretchen and Vilhiem Thank this.
