Did you guys all start sucking helium all at the same time?

St Paul, MN to Sacramento, CA - Mode Transportation

    1950 miles, their rate $2100.

I told the girl she can use about 50% of my trailer at that rate. She was not amused.

    Neither am I.

Hilarious. I like the cheery tone that they have when they offer you the rate, and the bewilderment when you spit tacks down the phone.

They probably figured you were dumb enough to think any load going back to your home city you would consider as icing on the cake. I get emails like that from them all day long. Lots of meat load offers ... Usually for an astounding 1.50/mile ... I can't haul it anyway as it is all USA to USA but if that was really what they move for I'd rather be a company driver.

Think I would rather park my trucks, me and my guys hook up to the boat and go fishing and drink beer until the rates start coming back up. Seems to work for us, after about two or three days we start getting calls for better money. Sometimes it is really hard for us to get back off the boat and get back into the trucks. At leastwise the fish in the lake seem to like us. Oh that's right finding freight is kinda like fishing, if it's not big enough throw it back into the lake. LOL

There looking for a $0.44 per mile company driver. I like the part about using half of the trailer.

Glad to hear your response! These brokers with their rates, I don't understand, are they that greedy or what?

Yes, they are greedy, and most of them have no clue as to what it cost to run a truck, let alone making profit with a truck. All they know is how to push paper, tell the shipper they can get it done cheaper then the next guy, then tell all of us that is all they have into it. They are lying with that very statement in itself, they have nothing into the load, their statement would insinuate that they actually bought the load and are now trying to sell it. They have bought nothing and so I ask what are they trying to sell? NOTHING

2 weeks ago. Portland, Or. to Chicago, IL. 47,000#. $2,600 tarped machinery. I found a partial from Portland to Madison, WI. $2,350 14,000# along with 3 more got $5,800 to Wisconsin. No tarps. Total weight was 32,000# 300 miles to unload.
Not a great pay, but better than that insulting full load rate. Other full loads up to $3,800 for 45#
