Chicago Intermodal.... anyone?

    One of the guys who works at 76th told me they havery trains that have been delayed by weeks just starting to come in. This week has picked up a bit for me but yeah last week sucked. I only made 40 hours because I worked 7 days.

    Talked with office guys today... (off day) so decided to go in. A couple of guys were in the office as well and were asking, what is going on? Office guys told them.. this is reality... be grateful you are doing a regional load or local load a day. Other carriers have 0 work and guys have been sitting for 1-2 weeks now. Our dispatcher is really fair in terms of dispatching people. this week & last week.. He sat the guys who worked 1 day and worked the others the next day, vice versa. Even if it was just one local move... he didn't double dispatch any guy to "fulfill his needs". Anyways.. seems like this slow period is done for. Showed me the stack of loads (150+loads for next week) that just GROUNDED from the trains (ELWOOD, CN HARVEY, CSX, NS)... yes!!

    I hope that is the end of it. I'm losing out on about $100 a week because of deliveries I am not doing. Been doing all pick ups. It's great on the fuel ecomony, I have been averaging 7.8 mpg.

    Wow!!! Every truck in my company was sitting tonight at the yard!!!! WTF!!!! is it just us, or is every Co. hurting out there???

    Every company! Hell.. i know personally so many drivers that work outside of our company... they're crying inside. they've been sitting for a week now. i know about 6 dudes who have worked 3 days out of the last two weeks. it's that bad.

    it's ####ing ridiculous. all this world politic ######## and china stock market, ect is effecting intermodal greatly.

    trains are still massively delayed. the ships are refusing to move until their all full. so many containers still not grounded yet. everyone is stunned by what's happening... but like you said RERM.......................... many companies started to feel this way a couple of months ago.... i am still clearing a 2K+ check every week and I AM happy. Yeah, it's nice to clear 3k+ week check when things are hot but ... i'll take the good with the bad.

    I met a guy at CN harvey today, he's like hey!!! im thinking of coming over to kiswani... i'm like oh giddy... why? he's like .. "this is my first load in 6 days..", i told him "i dont think they're hiring anymore". LOL.. stay away. RERM, have you noticed alot of new owner operators? they're hopping like crazy but in the last couple of weeks, jr has been rejecting on a daily basis of 2 owner ops a day who come in and try to lease on.

    Yeah, were up to 80 trucks!, but I don't think this is a Kiswani thing either, I'm seeing a LOT less trucks on the road, even non Intermodal freight is down. I know for a FACT flatbed freight is in the toilet....WTF!!!!

    I was off June 21 thru July 5th for surgery, so I'm not sure how slow Denver was, but I know when I came in Monday morning, the UP ramp was jam packed, they had cans every place they could find a hole for one, heck they even had them doubled up in the middle of the lanes, took forever to get stuff out because of things being blocked in, was until Weds. before they had the lanes cleared. I noticed this afternoon there are still close to 60 cans on the ground awaiting outbound trains or chassis.
