some want to run wild all over the placethose you do not need , never happy if put on a dedicate route and quickly demoralize others with their whining to get more freedom.

I go out and drive the truck myself. I usually run into the guys and interview them on the road, there are plenty of good hands that are driving for the bigger companies that are looking to work for a smaller company that will treat them with respect, and get them home on a regular basis. As far as the pay, for us that is not a problem we beat the bigger guys pay by quite a bit. All of our guys are on percentage so it does not matter if they are going long or running short. If I had a dedicated local route, and an OTR driver was to grip about the pay differential I would just move on. OTR drivers often forget about the extra money they are spending on the road. It is cheaper to eat at your house vs. the truckstop. The other side of the coin it is cheaper to use the rig as your car vs. driving your own back and forth to work. To each his own, local drivers should stay local, OTR stay OTR.

"....go about this ethically and steal other owner-operators' drivers..." Ethically. Either you have a fine sense of humor, or you're going to get some feedback. Negative feedback.

Cherry pick from the big boys is what I say.

How much experience do you have running team LTL freight on a schedule?
This may help in your understanding of what you are employing others to do. -
I have done lots of stuff in this business in my years and am probally this thread has gone way away from this first post but my last "job" was as and Area operations manager for a billion dollar company if you stole drivers from my other O/O I would get rid of you asap and any other manager would as well if he was worth a ####

Op, you really should edit your post. It's quite clear very few people are capable of reading context and seeing a simple proof reading error for what it is. Public education system at its finest on display here.
Even more hilarious is how after the guy clarifies what he meant later people still keep posting about you stealing drivers.slickrick23, partiznka and Terry270 Thank this. -
New to this forum, as well as fairly new to the trucking industry! I'll be taking over a previous owner-operator's business with FedEx Ground and would appreciate any advice!
I am in same position and about to buy linehaul company in the Northeast. Pro's/Con's, any other advise that has not been mentioned in this thread? Thanks.
