DY, I was talking with a guy at the truck stop dinner counter (you know how these stories go...) anyway, he says since I have a CARB approved 2010 truck I can get another truck pre-emission for my 'fleet'. Suggested a Glider to avoid FET and emissions and California supposedly approves if you run 50% compliant?

Ohio does this through PUCO, no sales tax on anything truck related. Parts, the truck itself.... Plus we have better freight out here.... Something to consider.....

It should be noted that your MC# also allows you to buy items tax free at farm and home stores. Think I've saved $5k plus at Menards with it on shop renovations and tools.

Buhahaha! You know what else is true? I can drive my CARB non-compliant 2003 truck to California right now and they can't, won't do a thing about it. Because CARB doesn't have the authority to pull me over or make me pull over. They rely on scared ignorant fools to bend over and take it. They can't enforce illegal interstate commerce regulations on out of state trucks. It has been said in here that the courts have proven otherwise yet we are all still waiting for someone based out of CA to show us one of these mythical tickets. From what I hear there are lots on non-compliant trucks running out there. What a joke CARB is....

CARB has extended deadlines on their enforcement of CA based trucks but their rules are in affect in all ports and rail yards already. Several companies that did port work thought CARB had no jurisdiction too, they're now out of business because they didn't update their equipment and are no longer allowed to pull containers. Several other business not involved in pulling containers are now paying fines for not having their trucks compliant too. All they had to do was have their trucks checked and a sticker applied, but they didn't do it. The list of companies that have been fined is growing every day and can easily be found online. As of now, you can come into CA not being CARB compliant, but once the deadline passes, you'll only be able to deliver out of state goods in a CARB compliant truck. No sticker on an old truck, no entry into the state.

CARB is a bunch of garbage, but they do and will have authority on the trucking industry in California.

I don't really think they need to go out and enforce the rules since trucking companies that are compliant are turning in the ones that are not in record numbers. That is just another sign that our industry will never have the power we could have, because most folks in the business are ready to stab the next guy in the back.
