Thinking about more southern trucking to escape the winter crap. Any ideas for a company driver willing to do tanker, van or reefer, possibly along the Interstate 10 or 20 corridor?

You may get less winter crap there but you aren't going to escape it. I20 is shutdown in Tx every year and they have no plows to speak of so it stays screwed up until it gets above freezing for awhile. And lots of crazy drivers spinning out everywhere.

I-10 gets fun too sometimes.

Winter encouter that u will have to put up with on i-10 and i-20 is a piece of cake!!!
The only real problem on i-10 i-20 is when there is ice on the road....actually ice on the road is a major problem wherever you are!
But what Kemosabi and Joseph says is dead on, southern folks just doesn't know how to react when driving in wintry conditions -
Had black ice on I 35 in Texas at mm 50...that's about 100 miles below I 10...you can run, but you can't hide from winter driving

Honestly I always preferred to be up north during the winter, and I don't care much for cold weather. Reason being states were prepared and able to take care of roads and always seemed like better drivers up north. Down south a little rain or ice and people drive faster.

I hit three ice storms on 10/20 between El Paso and Dallas last winter.
It was an inch thick on 20 around Merkel, you could look down and see the road underneath. Crawled along at 20 mph. It wasn't much fun. -
But those were the only 3 storms we had like that last winter here in Tx.. And that's a cold winter...
