Just got an email from a JBHunt recruiter. Among the other "benefits", it suggested that I could earn one day off for every seven days out. That is less than four days off per month. And that's supposed to be a good thing? That's just crazy talk.
Are you Insane?

Trucking Jobs in 30 seconds
Every month 400 people find a job with the help of TruckersReport.

It's the same at Swift I believe as well. Not too keen on driving for 3+ weeks.

Most otr companies are one day off for every seven out. If you want more time off, find a regional or local job. Want to be home every night? Don't drive a truck with a bed in the back.

"earn your time off" - doesn't sound too far off from prison, does it?
Canned Spam, Tonitos, austinmike and 13 others Thank this. -
I thought that how it was for otr, every week out get a day off
Matthew Caposino Thanks this. -
Except in prison, their meals, books, TV, beds and everything else is paid for.
...we still gotta buy all that!

I must have it all wrong. I thought driving, OTR and otherwise, was a job, not a religion. What other institution demands so much of your time besides religion and, apparently, OTR.
NavigatorWife and truckon Thank this. -
I'm gonna say your not cut out for OTR driving. But there's good news! There are plenty of truck driving jobs that are home every day, or five days out two days home. You just gotta look for them.
Also, OTR isn't a job... It's a lifestyle.

Trucking is a religion. ..those who fail to pay homage to the gods of trucking will not be blessed with a parking spot for the night.Cottonmouth85, texasbbqbest, Rick Brown and 7 others Thank this. -
And all these companies wonder why no young people want to drive a truck.
Flyer, Dreamboat and NavigatorWife Thank this.
