    Are you sure on that? The part about being on duty outside of the 14 hour window, but not rolling? Not arguing - just never considered it.

    Like - say you drove 10 hoiurs, then loaded/strapped/tarped for 5 hours - in that last hour tarping etc - have you comitted a violation? The first hour of driving was technically outside the window -

    I'm still struggling with solo logging - after years of "endless log" teaming, I'm a bit lost. Still haven't figured out how to use the 8/2 split to advantage.

    As long as you don't drive, and get at least a 10 hour break before logging back on duty, you could work "On Duty" until you collapse from exhaustion.

    And unless and until you fully (And I do mean "FULLY") understand the 8/2 split sleeper, I recommend you stay away from it.

    @blairandgretchen

    What @jbee said. 14hr clock starts the first minute you log any manner of on duty after any break. It could be 10hr or 34. Rule states ALL driving must happen in that 14hr window. But you can tarp yourself to death for as long as you want after that. (On duty time). You just can't drive again until after your 10hr break (allows you to reset the 14hr clock)

    the 11/14 hour rule is about when you can and when YOU CAN'T driver not how long you can WORK

    when you start you day starts you 14 hr. clock.... you can't drive past the 14 hr. mark, in that 14 hr's you can only drive 11 of them. nothing in the rule about how long you can work but when your done working you must take 10hr's off before you can drive again....

    Im guessing logging 10 in the sleeper,then 24 off duty is the safest way.I never really run 70 clock to zero,usually under 10 merits a reset.A hot load could put 34 into jeapardy,so logging all off duty,wouldnt be smart...unless,you REALLY didnt want to leave your current location.

    We all make mistakes. I know.

    I was making a wise crack at CRE, hinting that their overlords push crazy stuff. That's all.

    Just make sure you split up that sleeper time. We've had a couple members get asked by the dot if they really stayed in the sleeper berth and never left for that entire time.
