In my stqte each speeding ticket is 1.5 points and we are only allowed 4 points and they take the CDL away. So his 3 tickets would be 4.5 points, his only choice is to fight them and hope at least one ticket gets beat especially the 72 in a 55.

4 over 60 is 9 over 55. He should definitely fight them. I hired a ticket lawyer and beat a 64 in a 55 in Fresno. Lawyer argued that the two radio towers and the power lines above where the cop was sitting interfered with his radar gun. It was brilliant.
albert l, icsheeple and Leon Phelps III Thank this. -
Why discredit ticket clinic? Have you heard of or experienced something shady with them. Are they known for just taking your money and letting whatever happen with your ticket?

Here are two things to consider. The second (FMCSA link for section 383.51), go to the second table for speeding violations.
In all three instances, "your friend" is showing a complete disregard for laws. The first 12 over, not quite at the 15 to get to the level of "reckless". However #2 is considered being reckless as it is 17 over the posted limit. Now number 3, well we all know that you can do 60 and the CHP just pass on by, maybe even 61 or 62, but "your friend" decided to go for 64, which puts him in the "eye of the beholder" range.
Depending on what the disposition of the first and second was, and if they are part of his CA-DMV record (get a MVR print out for the previous 5 years to know) anyway, depending on the disposition of the first two will be the determining factor for #3. But ask yourself, and ask him just how many miles it will take to pay for that 9 over in Kern County (the worst BTW in CA for fines)...just shy of $600.00 I have heard.
Let's see, Arvin (T/A bottom of the Grapevine) to Santa Nella, 172 miles, at 55 it would take 3 hours, at 60 2.75 hours, at 64 2.5 hours....and let's use $500 for the figure....saved 30 minutes works out to $1000.00 an hour. Unnecessary expense and IMHO STUPID!TheHodag, drvrtech77, Upright and 4 others Thank this. -
So are you implying that suspension is imminent if he loses both cases.??

Wow. That was a hell of a breakdown. Well done sir. Thank you for that added perspective.otherhalftw Thanks this.

I had two tickets in 2011 with my CDL and California sent me a warning letter that my licence was in danger of suspension. -
Were they both speeding ?
-
It's OK for 4 wheelers not for CDL holders...Entry level lawyers are practicing there...
-
one was for speeding 12 over and the other was illegal lane change
