I think we are going to give them a try in January. I have a couple of medical issues to take care of so Hunny is doing local for about a month then we are hoping he can get into orientation toward the end of January. Like their rider program from day 1 and the cpm is pretty good. I think we are going for the Southeast Regional Home Time route. As long as I am with him he will stay out as long as there is runs to make or time runs out. 3 weekends/month home time is perfect for seeing the kids and grands and catching up on mail, etc. Really looking forward to it. Keep your fingers crossed for us...lol.

I am thinking about driving Florida regional. Do you have any info on how that is going. ,?

Not going to lie. Barr Nunn's Florida regional program is a joke. You'll be the lowest paid driver in the fleet, but do the exact same job southeast regional do. I talked to the higher ups about the pay structure . They said Florida regional gets paid less because of the cheap freight Florida has. I then asked if they just now figured that out, because Florida regional was created 6 months after I joined the company.
When I was Florida regional I did the exact same job as the south east guys. I was also ran out side my region for .34 cpm. Other drivers (otr) receive anywhere from 41 to 50+ cpm. So basically you're used as cheap labor. If you want Florida regional work, I suggest finding another company.
If you want otr then barr Nunn is the answer.GenoDM Thanks this. -
I love this company! I've been here almost 3 months and no complaints. Actually going to team up with a buddy for .61cpm split and an additional 0.4cpm for hazmat lds. I would recommend this company.

I'm not going to try to be a nay sayer .. Maybe Florida regional will work out for you. However I've tried the entire winter (maybe not the best time sample, granted) and My weekly take home was on avg 540-640 a week. I ran maybe .. 2200 most weeks. The 640 paychecks was when I was ... Guilt tripped into running out of region. Oh and they will guilt trip the crap out of you.
I just got turned off because of Florida regional runs the same exact area as southeast but yet gets paid less? I won't work as cheap labor. Hence... As much as I hate snow, I'm going to stick to otr. But good luck on Florida regional. I really do hope it works out for you.Solo_Seat Thanks this. -
Also... If you wanted southeast work there are number of companies that not only hire out of Florida but have terminals in Florida.
Carroll Fulmer
Davis Xpress
Watkins refrigerated
Davis Transfer
Just to name a few (I've had to recently
Search). Watkins impressed me the most. I'll always recommend those companies who just want to be a southeast regional drivers way before I refer them to be Florida regional drivers for Barr Nunn.
However as I've stated in previous posts, if you want to be otr, then no company is better than Barr Nunn.Solo_Seat Thanks this. -
OTR is where I will be headed but for the time being, I need to be closer to home. I definitely see what you are saying, and I wouldn't even begin to disagree with what you are saying. I looked at all of those companies, and yes, I think Watkins is the best of those as well.
