From Class-A to Class-B

almost. picture it like driving your truck bobtail. maybe a few feet longer. keep the class A you can still drive anything

 

Depending on what you are driving, it might really suck trying to navigate some areas, since some straight trucks have a pretty long wheel base. Very different than a car.

 

Remember the overhang. If u turn too sharp ur tail,will just swing and hit park cars

 

Something doesn't sound right here. Missing some information. Thinking something happened in the big rig since time driving was so short and feelings of nervousness driving a straight truck. Accident maybe?

 

Not sure why you feel you need advice on driving a straight truck? As said (when putting all replies together), like driving bobtail with a tail swing.
If you only drove tractor/trailer "for a few months", then you shouldn't have the 'feel' confusion of backing the straight truck versus backing a trailer---straight truck, steer the direction of the back---trailer, steer opposite.

I would be more concerned on what to expect based on type of freight you'll be "delivering".
If you have never climbed in the back of a truck, stacked freight next to the door, jumped down on the ground, stacked freight on a 2 wheel cart, rolled it to a building, leaned it against you so you can open the door, held the door open with whatever part of your body is most handy so you can wheel the cart through, up some stairs, down some stairs, through another door or two, stack it where customer asks (maybe even rotate stock), and then go back to get the next cart full---you are in for a treat.

 

I can kinda see this guys point....If you need advice on how to drive a straight truck, you probably should downgrade your class A to B. Where I work, if you mess up driving one of the tankers they put you on the box/straight truck as punishment. Moving drums of oil and pallets full of boxes of oil all day kinda sucks.

 

All kidding aside....WHY? Use this forum as the resource it is! WHY would you downgrade when you got a Class A? WHY are you leaving a job so soon, what is it about the smaller straight trucks has your interest knowing you'll most likely make less. Be honest and get good advise from people who know what their talking about. That why everybody here.

 

try to make sure that when docking, use both mirrors and try not to be too fixed into the left side, as you will undoubtedly favor that side, and be off angle to the docks.

 

might as well get a city job and drive buses or garbage trucks. Got any Mob connections? Friends with names like Cheeser, or Bullets? Gang Connections?
