Rumor has it that Prime Inc. has recently been buying up livestock trailers for hog hauling. Has anyone else heard of this? I haul hogs to Smithfield, Va..and the three slaughterhouses in NC for Murphey Brown, a subsidy of Smithfield, and this has been the talk in our circles for a couple of weeks now. Seems kind of outlandish to me, but, you never know in the trucking world!
    Many Thanks,

I wouldn't put it past Robert Lowe (Prime's head honcho). If there is a dollar to be made, he'll do it. JBS is pulling their own cattle wagons to their plants, then pulling finished product with their own company trucks. Prime might just be following their lead. But if their livestock fleet is anything like their other fleets, pigs will be flying (after they crash the truck)

I can't see this as feasible for Prime. One truck to pull a load of pigs followed by another truck with food and water for said animals? How else are they going to keep the pigs alive on those 3 day 600 mile runs?

I use to haul live chickens, let's say my scalp and back are well fertilized, I can imaging the rain of crapola out of a pig or cow truck. $0.31 cpm to be pooped on by livestock...SIGN ME UP....WHOOOOHOOOOO.

Heck, I get pooped on by my company people all the time, but they pay better
