Dual temps are nice , but often have alarm codes way more often .. Also they burn fuel at a heavier rate unless you absolutely need one and have good repair shop . You may add extra stress on yourself

I hear you and this old tri-temp burned more fuel in one North bound load than my single temp has used in four round trips. Unfortunately, it is the future and if I want to keep running this lane I have to have one. I do like the lease since they take care of the repairs. I keep looking at other lease options as well.

I have always liked the Western Star's look, too bad the Western Star dealer in Toronto had a stupid shop foreman, that is why they lost me as a customer when they where so close to selling me a brand new Western Star in 2007.vikingswen Thanks this. -

That is a nice truck. If I still had my shop I would built a truck like that too. How long is your sleeper? What is your wheelbase? What is your empty weight? I am wondering how close my estimate of a 285" wheelbase truck with a 120" sleeper would be.CanadianVaquero Thanks this.

Just read the whole thread in a couple hours, love it! Lived in Anchorage for six months, back in Calgary now. Been running a lot of BC, Ab, Sk. Hey if you ever stop in Teslin, Yukon, my grandparents used to own the store there! And my aunt lives and works at the Rancheria at mile 710. Always wanted to run that way but living in Alberta I'm not sure theres a lot of freight going that direction from here.

The sleeper is a 128" ari sleeper and the truck wheelbase is 280" With my flatbed trailer I am 74'6" long, can't be over 75ft and get a truck over length permit for BC. I never weighed bobtail but Truck and Trailer weight is 40,500 lbs.

If you were to build a truck, what extras would you spec on the truck to handle the low temperatures running to Alaska? My truck has the "Arctic Package" but that is basically fuel heaters and all airline plumbing is the old style rubber/steel braided lines.
