Where do these tests take place? At the weigh station? At portable units? Do they just create a road block and start testing? This will be my first experience with the operation so I'm trying to find out what I'm watching for. If its a big hassle or done at the weigh station maybe I'd just rather drive around it.

Same inspections as usual. Nothing much different than any other day.
A couple articles I have read states the number of inspection don't increase during this brake check week.
I have not noticed any increase of enforcement activity either during brake check or the 72 hour blitz they have every year.
If you are running a legal truck, You will have no problem.

IF a DOT inspector feels you are running around a scale you would get the fine tooth inspection.

The only thing I do this week different is I washed my truck a little cleaner this weekend than normal.
    Good luck to all.

I have had the NC scales give me a brake check a few times...but not like the OP was meaning. I'm talking about them throwing a late red light on a light load making you hit your brakes hard (right in front of a sign that says "no hard braking on scale"

I idle in granny low across scales exactly because of Aholes like that & usually come to a stop on top of scale unless they are physically waving me on through the window just in case.

Don't use rest areas or truck parking on interstates & major US roads in VA, PA, IN, or MI during that time of year; they are notorious for it & wastes more of your time.

Anyone see any more (than usual) inspections today?
Was not on the road, so just curious.

I didn't notice any more activity than usual. No temporary inspection stations that I passed were in use in AR, TN, and MS. Although, I fully expected TN to be throwing up a temporary inspection site or two - none that I saw.

Seen a guy getting inspection with the creeper right on the shoulder today. Seriously? Neither trooper or trucker gets paid enough for such dangerous acts.

I'm so sick of all the unnecessary shoulder activity. Emergencies only people!
