Thanks... Apparently you know it all from sitting behind the screen of your computer at home...

and lookie mrdot hit the thank button, lol.Hes setting a bad example, lol.Anyway I would have done the same thing and get online or take my dog out then technically you're off duty and not doing anything trk related. The DOT makes the law work to their advantage which explains why so many truckers fights tickets,no reason why truckers cant make the law work to their advantage.

I don't see why not, tell him to talk to his dispatcher now and start making plans for teaming.

Not to be a smart arse, the day a driver stops learning is the day they stop breathing. By that I mean, newbie or experienced, we all learn something different on a regular basis. It's good that he wants to learn, sometimes the best teacher is experience, just getting out there and doing it, and make a mistake or two, then learn from those mistakes.

Team driving isn't like trainer/trainee driving. Usually the person driving is the only person up front, so it would be just like he was on his own as a solo driver.

I've been in that situation; so logged "sleeper berth" to save on my 70 for the week. All the drivers I've worked with do this.

I think sitting in the passenger seat reading a book or watching TruckerDesiree videos would qualify as off duty.

We know that he has been team driving since week two. None the less, there is someone there at some point. It was just an idea is all.
I'm confused, how do you get out and walk your dog when your sitting in traffic on the freeway. Also, he wasn't going to have any problems with his hours. They hadn't gotten started til 3:30 because the truck was down. Anyways, that isn't the point of this whole topic... I certainly don't know it all. If I did I wouldn't have asked this question.

Once again, why, he wasn't going to go over his hours, he wasn't being paid until 3:30pm, now he's going to sit longer, not get hours nd not get paid, there is no point to that.

I think it might be possible for him to team, but he might have a hard time finding someone under the circumstances.

I don't think my significant other would feel comfortable sleeping if his codriver didn't feel 100% ready to be solo. He didn't sign up to be a trainer and would only agree to team with someone that he could trust with his life.
