Well darn!! First ever at fault accident for this cowboy.. Think goodness it happened on privet property so no DOT involved..
This guy pulled in behind me and was in my blind spot, I looked out that side of the mirror and did not see him.. As I pulled forward, I drove my trailer right into his truck.. Man I felt bad..
Oh well thank goodness for insurance!! Guess I need something to spend money on this week..
Stay safe, and for the love of god don't ever park in a blind spot.. And always get out and do a 360 before moving your equipment!! -
The guy at some point pulled in next to me, and he backed his truck to where it was about the middle of my trailer..
So when I looked out the window, I did not anything, looked at the mirror and did not see anything because of his angle he parked I guess.. Thought I was good to go and then a heard an air horn blow.. Looked out the mirror and this is what I see next..
Still the best job in America!! Lol -
Last night I felt/heard something tap my truck, looked up in a bleary eyed state and see a guy parking next to me. I jump up and hit the air horn, all it was was he was heading into the spot next to me and his mirror kissed mine. He drove all the way in, that's when I heard him crunch his plastic bumper to death on the 2 foot tall concrete curb. Just got on the CB and told him good night don't worry about it.
itaff Thanks this. -
I don't mean this to be a sarcastic question ... you said he pulled in next to you last night ... do you walk your trailer every morning before you start out?
-
No, we where on site. I pulled in and checked in about an hour and a 1/2 prior to my appt time so I was parked in the reserve parking.. Then while I was taking a cat nap he pulled in..
But to answer you question, yes after being shut down at night, I do a pre check in the morning.. And this includes a walk around.. -
Wow thanks for making me feel worse than I already do..
Of course he may be off of work for a day or two, I hope he gets to spend it with his family and enjoy there time together.
He was actually able to reconstruct his finder with a roll of duck tape. Then he drove it and it ran fine with no issues, so I'm sure an auto body shop will order and paint him a new hood and then have him come in and have it on in a day or two..
Unfortunately accidents happen, it's part of life. When I was hit by a guy texting and driving about 5 years ago, I was down for a few days and his insurance compensated me a set rate.. But this is between him and them now, that's why we pay them all that good money.. -
Yep, I was just going to say that the insurance company will compensate him for his down time. Usually only about 60% of his average pay, but it's something.
