Just stepping in real quick-- over at Roadrunner and I'm sure it is similar at A&A, certain deductions happen ever week of the year. Then there is one big deduction 12 times a year.
So lets say they deduct $800 a week every week and once a month deduct $500. In between those they deduct a separate amount for OCC/ACC and last month's IFTA.
If you work out here 40 weeks a year you can expect to go negative settlement 12 weeks a year.
What you have to do is step up your money management game and let go of the idea that you have to keep flush positive settlements all the time. A negative settlement doesn't mean anything, you're not even charged interest for it. It is like a personal credit and the company is banking that you will pay it back with seat time== which is the best way to pay it, rather than taking your own cash you need to eat and maintain your equipment to keep your settlement flush.
Imagine you paid your settlement flush and then your maintenance guys calls and says 'your truck is done, come pay $5500 to get it back' then your phone rings and the tax man says 'it's the end of the quarter, do you have $3500 for the IRS today'? Then the old lady is calling 'the baby needs diapers' and you're thinking well the good news is the truck payment is flush but the bad news is we are not eating this week.CREASEY TRANS, Wickedfire77, Deacon2006 and 3 others Thank this. -

One thing that has not been asked, what kind of equipment do they offer as far as truck. Now let me clarify something for you. I have been in this industry for over 20 years and at the present time I am on my second lease with Swift, so I can say that I have been around the block a few times, and many years ago about 2 years with JCT. The reason why I like the escrow account is that I know that it is coming out, but the old saying, I do not see it so I do not miss it, but I know that it is there if something does happen. I see my bank account all the time, I have a habit of not checking what is in my escrow account unless something is coming up and I might need it. Also when I go out of the country Swift does not have a panic scare since they can see what is in there and they know that when I get back home the negative will be taken care of. There are times that it is much easier on the mind when I kow that it is there and the negative will be taken care of instead of worrying, are the miles and loads there that will cover the negative.

C'mon, man. Where's all the updates you promised?

Well I was passed on! They told me I had been out too long and I lost all my experience except for the last 7 months, so they said go get a full year somewhere and call them back
