Your clock starts on paper too, but if you choose to adjust your start time because you are running close to your 14 then that is your choice. But hope that you're not involved in an incident, regardless of fault. I know of 5 drivers over the 22 years I've been out here that got blamed for accidents they weren't at fault for...all because they floated some times around on paper. 1 lost everything after 30+ years safe driving. Remember that driver that killed that van load of kids in FL a decade ago...the 1st 3 things they grabbed after they cleared the scene was his log book, his laptop and his phone all to verify his movements for the day. And there is no FORCING drivers to drive tired. I still stand by my statement that driving tired is at the discression of the driver, 100%. I am not saying it won't happen. But it just gets so old hearing the same old b.s. excuses from the anti-elog consortium about what e-logs will force us to do or how poor it'll make everyone. It simply isn't true.

Those are impressive statistics and if I was sitting at home looking at them I would say you have a point but I am actually in Canada 2 or 3 times a month and despite having driven in new York the Bronx new jersey Chicago LA, San Francisco it's my opinion from personal experience that when I'm up in BC or Calgary or Edmonton I see over and over some of the most idiotic careless I don't give a #### driving that I have ever seen anywhere it's not even that they are bad drivers it's they absolutely do not care about anyone on the road but themselves It has gotten so bad with drivers cutting in front of me then braking hard to turn in or take an exit that I am seriously considering a dash cam.NavigatorWife Thanks this. -
It's sad that these kind of accidents aren't even surprising anymore. My thoughts and prayers go out to the families of these unnecessarily lost lives. I'm in Toronto monthly and it's still one of my favorite cities in the country.....I just hate driving there

I don't understand the log book argument I drive elogs I get my work done, I get my driving done, and if I need a nap I take one. I almost give no thought to my log it is what it is and if anything I have a problem with our work day being 14 hours long it's absurd.
NavigatorWife and SISYPHUS Thank this. -
Your lucky.. I am in Toronto everyday, sometimes I spend my whole day on the 401 or 407 from Markham to 400/Finch back and fourth 6-8 times back and fourth.... Sometime I get to do loads to Orangeville and Dundalk which takes me a little further north.. Then other days I am going to Niagara so it can be crappy going down the OEW/403... Traffic here sucks and drivers are just nuts... Trucks and car a like.. I am not even surprised by the day to day stuff people do, it's almost always the same crap day in day out.. Sometimes something new but most of the times repeat several times a day... Like hearing about a truck roll over is common occurrence and I am not really amazed anymore.. That sad isn't it....NavigatorWife Thanks this.

It always amazed me how many folks drive to fast to close and then wonder why there caught up in a massive pile up, it is so sad to see an accident that most probably could of been avoided by safe driving.
NavigatorWife Thanks this. -
It takes away your option to stop and take a nap, because you can't go back and say you didnt. You'll have dispatch and customers on you like white on rice if you don't drive every available minute.
-
So then take a freakin nap. I don't buy the elogs excuse in the US and in Canada it holds absolutely no water. If the dude needed a nap a minimum of 2 hrs in the berth extends his clock in Canada where this accident occurred.
I doubt fatigue played a part in this one though. -
Not sure if you're trolling for a reaction or what with these comments. I've seen you post similar comments on other threads about Canadians being bad drivers. Starting to think maybe its you that is the bad driver. Common denominator, right?
