Does it particularly matter what company he's working for?

Maybe his question was simply generic.

The OP asked a legit question for experienced NE Regional guys to answer. Not sure why every thread lately seems to get sidetracked.

Anyway, like another guy said, I'd plan on running nights to avoid the parking disasters that all of the 5 o'clock pumpkins create (the guys that turn in to pumpkins if they have to drive at night). Plan your trips accordingly to avoid the big city rush hour BS, a good rule of thumb for me is to be the hell away from traffic between 6-9:30am and 4-7:30pm. Obviously this will wreak havoc on your logs, so plan on irregular sleep habits - you'll have to run nights one day and days the next. You won't know if you're coming or going, but I always choose the path of least aggravation.

Good advice Pintlehook....also, note that if you will be running the turnpikes and thruways, your fuel options may be limited. NY service plazas dont accept COMDATA, and the the ones in NJ are all Sunoco. Biggest truckstop complex in that area is Bordentown exit 7. Mom and Pop? Try the Emlenton Truck Plaza on I-80....if you get out that far...the food is really good.....its near the Ohio border....not sure of the exit number, but Google works great. Avoid the Rt 46 truck stops in NJ, near 80. I-84 is real mess for stop and go traffic in New england....nightime operations apply there! Hope I helped!!

Emlonton is at exit 43 across from that club up the hill, the town itself is exit 45 I believe.

New England can be challenging, but not too bad when you get used to it. I'd recommend starting your day at 3 or 4 am everyday just to dodge traffic and give yourself a better chance of finding parking when you shut down for the night. Always call and ask a customer you're delivering to if they have overnight parking available. Trust me, that is majorly helpful in the NE! Good luck with your new gig and welcome to the forum!
