Oof--that feeling you get when you realize you've made a huge, bone headed mistake. I had the run from Albuquerque to Fort Worth, had it all planned out to arrive 0730 for 0800 appointment. It was tight but I had time for a long lunch en route and still make appointment without trouble.
Half way between lunch and dinner it occurred to me that Albuquerque is on mountain time and Fort Worth is on central. I did not account for that. You guessed it--I was half an hour late.
Dispatch was not happy about it when I called--few worse feelings than a butt chewing you know you've got coming. This was a service watch load.
Fortunately I got a door right away and they weren't super busy and the unloaders wanted an early lunch, so I was in and out in less than 90 minutes. Could have been a lot worse, and with zero detention pay.
I reiterate: Oof. I don't usually slip up like that.Dominick253 Thanks this. -

Words of comfort, always welcome when one is down, and I thank you.
Still, my personal standard is that of the Wisdom of the Ages: "Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, this do with all thine might."
After all, if you're gonna be doing something anyway, why not give it your all and strive for perfection? Whether its trucking, building a bookshelf, cooking a meal, or just folding laundry, for me even the most menial of tasks has more meaning when I focus on the moment and do it with intent.
That's a pretty hard left turn from the original subject, I know. I guess I'm just saying I don't consider myself a perfectionist, but it makes me feel bad when I fall short of excellence.
I am not a slow driver, I am not a fast driver, I am a half fast driver! TB John, HeWhoMustNotBeNamed and joseph1135 Thank this. -
Not sure if you have a GPS, the one I use has the mileage to target and local time we will be there and optionally the home terminal time of arrival. Mostly use the home terminal time one when scrolling out ahead about 100 miles and have 90 minutes left on clock, will see what truck stop or rest area is out there on the GPS, route to it with home terminal time set to see if I can make it in time. Anyway the GPS calculates the arrival time with the time zones factored in.

.... What scottied67 said was one of my favorite features of a gps. Extremely handy. Although you gotta get a tablet first, gps can be found for 100 simolians or less.

No argument here. I just have other things to do before I go replacing my old Rand McNally 520. Remember, Risinger seriously cut my throat for leaving the plantation, and we still haven't fully recovered yet.

This is the hard part of being in Show Business. *sigh* ... I feel that the partnership that Phredd & Captain Zoom have is something truly special and magical. There's no room for doubt that they are one of the most Electrifying Duo Acts in the World today ! One can make the statement that they surpass all the other Acts with a Captain as the Headliner, leaping far beyond such Acts as The Captain and Tennille and The Captain and Gilligan ( better known as the Skipper ). However, I would be remiss in my duties as Phredd's Agent if the best interests of my Client weren't kept in mind at all times. With this in mind, I ask you to consider my Client's state of health. It's extremely fatiguing on him to be Sacrificed once a day and twice on Sundays for the Matinee. Phredd's not getting any younger, you know ? He insists on an appeasement package, at once ! Being the loyal goat that he is, he understands that there's only so many simolians to pass around and has no problem with the amount presently provided but he humbly asks for a reduction in the amount of performances done on a regular basis. I tried to sooth his mind by inviting him to a nice lunch at a place in San Diego that get's rave reviews, but he must be more exhausted than I realized. He declined a Free Meal !! .... http://www.thesmokinggoatrestaurant.com/
