    My appointment was at the origin. Had no info in the plan about staff at each destination....

    Actually taking a full 10 lets you start a new 14 hour window so it resets the 14 to 0.

    Taking 8 in the sleeper stops the 14 and after the 8 in the sleeper you can continue with what was left of the 14 before you stopped.

    An 8 sleeper really doesn't stop your clock. I don't know how to make this more clear. Are you on elogs? Wake up at the eight hour mark and look at your 14 hour clock. Still counting down ain't it? And it'll keep counting down (unless you're out of hours) until you get to a full 10+ hour break.

    Maybe a better way to say it is that the 8 suspends the 14? But the second you hit 8:01 your 14 starts counting down - read: isn't stopped - from where you were when you started your 8.

    .....yes it does... it might be a company thing for u because I can do a 8/2 split.

    Example. I wake up, run 10 hours, off duty. 4 hours left on my 14 right? It's going to count down. 8 hours after I went on sleeper I get my 4 hours back. I can drive for 4 hours after 8 hours sleeper.

    After 4 hours, 2 hours off duty, I gain the rest of my 14 which will be 10 hours.

    Assuming you only spent 7 hours driving in your initial 10 hour block, then yes you'd have 4 hours on your 11 and 4 hours on your 14. You still haven't stopped your 14 though. And by stopped, I mean it's not ticking at all.

    You aren't making this clear with your wording. "Stop" or "suspend" does not mean reset.

    8 hours in the sleeper DOES stop your 14 hour clock. Once you hit the 8 hour mark the 14 reverts to the time that was remaining on the 14 when you entered the sleeper (off duty does NOT count). Once on duty or driving the clock resumes counting.

    On elogs? Note the time remaining on the 14 when going to sleeper. Look at the clock at 7:59 (sleeper time) and watch it back up once it hits 8:00 hours in the sleeper to the time that was remaining on the 14.

    Close but it does not start counting down the second you hit 8:01 unless you leave the sleeper berth. You could do 9.5 in the sleeper and then go to line 2 and that is when it would continue with the 14 hour countdown. From the FMCSA guidance "any S/B period of at least 8 but less than 10 consecutive hours is excluded from the 14-hour calculation"

    And when it it hits 8:01 watch it start counting down regardless of your duty status.

    I give up ....for real this time.

    Never used e-logs but the fmcsa wording is clear, it does not automatically start counting down at the 8 hour mark.
