I run type 31 also. My buddy who bought those Walmart ones are just plain car batteries but he doesn't notice any difference. He runs 6 total. He bought each one separate and not on the same receipt.

I didn't find a Group-31 Battery listed on Walmarts website. The battery your quoting with a 5 year replacement...I wouldn't use that.

That's correct, it's not a type 31, it's a car battery. It's my buddy who uses them and has no problem at all. He runs 6 batteries and gets a brand new set every year for 5 years. Not much difference, a type 31 is just a little larger. They were designed a little larger for trucks when trucks only had 2 batteries. Now that were at 4 running a car or boat battery works just as good.

Why not run the Rigmaster more? Isolate 2 additional batteries for hotel use?

We have good luck with interstate batteries. In 2 years I think we have changed 8 batteries in 10 trucks.

I'd have to think about that. I'm not complaining here. Every fall I get a brand new set of batteries which is great going into the winter.

I think with everyone running more and more in trucks your going to see battery manufacturers either lower their warranty period or start to prorate them like tires. I was told Delco Remy will be the first to go this route.

I guess I should add: deep cycle batteries for number 5 & 6.

I tried those also but they didn't last as long. Then it was explained to me about them. They cannot take a massive charge from a truck. They are meant to be slow charged over a long period. Sort of like Fred who goes out fishing with his electric motor. He comes home and puts the battery on a trickle charger until next Sunday.

Moved into my used truck March 2011. Batteries were deep cycles installed September 2010. Around October 2012 I had the electrical system checked, they recommended new batteries at that time. I kept going on them til September 2013, way into the foul rotten egg smell. Changed them out with standard Napa batts and 17 months later needed a jump start. Could have had them replace for free but stubborn lazy me kept going (with several jumpstarts along the way) til September 2015 and bought 4 more Napa's with core charge discount.
