Schneider or Werner?

Oh I don't know where I've worked it was mostly throw you to the wolves stuff, here take this beer truck to some place you don't know and try to figure it out you can do 20 deliveries or what ever, they loaded me in an 18 bay with like 400 cases which was not very many cases for a trailer that size.

When I started in the food game I worked with a couple other guys basically just got done early and then when I was on my own it was more or less you'll figure it out and in 7-9 months you'll get the hang of it. That's what it takes for any specific job 7-12 months the lights start to come on or get brighter everyone makes mistakes, (paper work wise and what not) however the lights start to come on and get brighter and brighter. I don't know trust me training with your trainer might be good (my training at the beer company was pretty much a joke) (My training at the food distributor was about two hairs better then the beer company) You know some of these trainers are good and others well it'll be like being on your own.

 

Are those really you're only two choices ??

 

I'd go with Schneider.. more divisions/other job options. Plus OC and drop lots all over the place so don't have to worry about parking much at night with proper trip planning.
Cheap slow Freightshakers though...

 

Depends on your personality. Schneider drivers are 50/50 good and bad. Werner drivers are bad attitude selfish drivers. have never had a good experience with them on the road or in the truckstops. what kind of driver do you want to be?

 

I talked to a sni recruiter in depth and he told me 4 to 6 weeks training and that was may of this yr. I was in the same boat werner,cre or sni. They're all the same just pick one. Luckily just before I left I applied to a small 12 truck outfit and they hired me. 2 days of training with the owner and they took the leash off.

 

Werner is far more laid back, very reasonable. Schneider is known for having really over the top rules.

As far as teaming goes, I got into teaming at Werner to get away from a bad truck, and ended up being very happy with the decision.

Teams at Werner get priority on everything, and they get the best dispatchers. Much better loads, better trucks, better pay, better everything, basically.

If you KNOW you want to team, I can tell you from personal experience that Werner is a good team company. Solo driving is crap, but Team is one of the best experiences of my career. The pay rate has also increased lately, and they pay $750-1000 a month extra for the first 3-8 months. On top of decent base pay.

Because I personally know you can make a good living and get treated special, I am going to recommend Werner hands down if you want to team.

You can see my posts ripping on them for other parts of the company, but the teaming division is absolutely an excellent part of the company. A to A+. Maintenance is also very simple, can drop trailers and send in a macro, instead of being forced to babysit broken trailers at the local TA or Petro.

Loads are almost always drop and hook, and if they are not, there is usually a reason. The team division is hands down one of the best divisions Ive ever worked for.

And like Ive said, I'm not always a fan of Werner. But as a team company, they are excellent. I would absolutely recommend it for team drivers, especially over something unknown.

They dont micro manage anything, their trucks run 65, and they dont cheap out on things. You also get to pick your fuel stop from a list, and choose your own route.

As long as you are safe and deliver on time, they wont really bother you at all.

But be safe. Thats all thats important.

 

Did you really just recommend a division you havent actually been in yourself, over a division somebody else has been in and recommends? Im not going to recommend something I havent been in myself.

And Schneider's CSA score just took a HUGE hit.

They also do not have trailers to pre-load at any customers that I am familiar with. I do not see them at UPS, Amazon, or any LTL companies. Which makes me seriously doubt what kind of long distance freight they might have. Is it all live load? Where are these trailers? Why do they all look horrendously maintained?
