Why don't you quit? You could be home whenever you want.

    Doesn't seem very complicated.

That's how it SHOULD work, as long as it doesn't mean missing service on a load.

That's life in the OTR world, and that's why I currently work LTL and the closest I ever intend to get to OTR is Regional.

So let me get this straight. There are those at the company that have paid their dues to the company by sacrificing and busting their kiester to make the company successful so that you have a chance to work for them. And you think you 'deserve' to be put ahead of them in line to take time off? Sounds like the same mentality of today's youth sporting events...every gets a trophy just because they played.

I have been out here 22+ years (with a half dozen companies) and can count on one hand the number of Thanksgivings I have been home on the actual day, and still have enough fingers left to play a blues chord on my guitar.

If you want guaranteed home time for holidays drive a 1 stack Mack with a window in the back.

I am about to start with a new company in 2 weeks and I have already prepared my family for the possibility of this being the 1st Christmas I've missed in all the years I've been out here, but as the new guy to the company, I can accept it because I haven't paid my dues with them yet.

this is the same mentality of people hiring on to companies hat spend a lot of time in oregon and washington but say they wont throw iron. I usually don't try and change a company as much as find one that fits me

This whole trucking thing is really depressing anymore. "Real men" who have Palmolive soft ##### hands are whining because "ME ME ME ME ME ME". Peolpe like some of you make me sick.

Wait a minute...I resemble that remark in a way...at least the soft hands part. Unlike many jobs I've had in my pre-trucking life, I don't do much to rough them up. At least in my paying job, my hometime honey-do job is another story

We lost another driver this week after a logging truck in Mississippi pulled in front of him causing an accident. RIP Jeff. Long time driver and a good guy.
