I' m thinking to get in the intermodal business, but not sure which truck would be good for the job ?
Also should I get a truck if a sleeper or a day cab would be fine ?
If there is anyone with experience on the job that could give some advice, would be very appreciated .
    Thank you.

Where are you? In general, a small sleeper is good, especially if you are in NY/NJ or Chicago. Getting to a reciever the night before beats the Cross Bronx or Byrne Circle in rush hour anytime. Many times you will haul a can between 350-400 miles. You may not be able to turn it in one day. Sleepers are usually more affordable than day cabs. Smaller is better. Shorter wheelbase, smaller sleeper, all things being equal. (price)

Anything will work as long as it's not a DPF truck. Lighter the truck the better too

They can only load about 44k in a container.

Carioca and Bean Jr. Thank this.

Since when?????....I just spent last week doing 20's within 500lbs of gross.....try the MAERSK grain containers...

Go light, with sleeper 58 to 67 and short 215-235".....Detroit power is cheaper to repair....

43500lbs in a 20ft isn't bad at all with a tri axel. I get paid at least 2 a mile to pull them.

The perfect truck to pull containers? The cheapest pos you can find. A white volvo or century. Preferably with dry rotted bald recaps, head lights head in with duct tape, broken grill. Fenders held on with bungee cords. at least one body part must be of a different color. Now just hang a flag of a foreign country off the mirror and your golden. You will fit right in with the rest of the can haulers.
