I think I've only refused loads they try and give me sending me the opposite direction I need to get home within the last few days i told them I would be running. When you have been out almost 6 weeks, don't throw a load on me that only gives me the possibility of getting home 2 days after what I requested. In this case, missing thanksgiving is not an option for my wife who is ultimately the boss.

    Vilhiem Thanks this.

I've pulled both and decided to come here and enjoy the easy life.
Did tanker work in montreal for 2 years..that good enough for you?
Pulled flats in western PA to Buffalo NY area.
    Winter is always a joy.

Going above and beyond the duties of a driver should get a reward.

Doing a good job, well that should be everyone's job and therefore, the norm.

How far from home isn't as big a deal for me, by the end of 5-6 days, I've worked nearly my full 70 because I unload my own trailers.

I like doing that... Keeps me out of the box and active.

With this QC update we are less likely to get tight runs where we are dropping trailers off duty and picking up trailers off duty so we can get a full 10 on our clocks. If you let Jcp do it, they'll run you absolutely ragged.

I was just asking myself the same thing. Because making the choice to pay for a faster truck and all it's expenses equates to more work?

I've pulled flats, step, and tanks. Don't come here with any of that "we work harder" nonsense.

    MilkyJay Thanks this.

No not paying for a faster truck..paying for the CHOICE to pick and run where and when I want.
As for more work..when you're paying for the truck you tend to keep at it.
Using your hours to their max and working the days/areas you don't normally want to.

    All about profit..not speed.
65mph is not left lane hammering..LOL!

The major difference, at least to me, is that you're the one making sure you're not going into a freightless area and stuck there waiting. You're running a business and a truck.

Logistically speaking, IC's work harder to ensure a profit at the end of the day. Company drivers work harder in that we have to run harder to make a similar amount of money.

A company driver can run at best, 620mi a day. If you're going by maximum speed limits, IC's can run (guessing...) 700-740mi a day.

gentleroger and Dogals right foot Thank this.
