Flat has more work involved..chaining/strapping and tarping in bad/hot weather is not easy.
Tank is easier except when transporting..if you have a smoothbore tank surge can be a eye opener.

The whole debate about who works harder is nothing but a pissing contest anyways...
"I can pee further than you!"
"Nope! I can piss farther than you'll even dream of!"moosc, scythe08 and PoleCrusher Thank this. -
I understand what you are saying but there are plenty of codrvs that can run 70hrs a week regardless whether they pay for the truck or not. Main difference is how many miles you can cover in a slow truck. Other than that, it's not hard work pulling a van.Vilhiem Thanks this.
-
Yes really. I don't pull either. Never will. So I only know what I've either heard or seen. I'm asking for your opinion. Not for what may or may not be the most obvious answerVilhiem Thanks this.
-
Yes it does. When you have to manage your maintenance, fuel, and dispatch on top of running your loads.
Then after all that, you get to manage your business... Accounting, P/Ls, expense tracking, etc....Vilhiem Thanks this. -
Ok keep thinking that.
It's not all about miles.
Drop/hook multiple times a day is work..always playing beat the clock.(14 hour rule)
Trip planning so everything works the way you want it.
It's not just swinging doors like everyone seems to think it is.freightwipper, Home_on_wheels, driverdriver and 2 others Thank this. -
Van, unless you're loading or unloading it yourself, is probably THE easiest to do...
I would GUESS...
Van
Flatbed
Tanker
Auto
Heavy hauler
In order of difficulty... Why is tanker harder than flat? Put a giant 20 ton marble in your dry van. Now imagine it moving around as you drive and you have to keep that trailer under control.
Yeah. That's why tanker is harder.
Edit: this is formed from my inexperienced opinion... It's your right to disagree. -
And statements to the effect of "stay in the right lane with the rest of the swine" will get MY blood boiling.
I better not find another one of those in this thread.moosc, 91B20H8, PoleCrusher and 1 other person Thank this. -
I'm just gonna put this out there. Not gonna hop into this argument, but I've talked to a couple ICs who don't take e0 minute breaks because they don't work past the 8 hour rule. Most IC's I've talked to say it's the easiest work they've done. There is nothing physically hard about working SNI's choice load board. Mentally hard, yea, most likely.
As far as the IC fleet out performing company.... As far as out performing in profits, then yea, most likely. All those ####ty paying loads that IC's won't and can't haul, the company guys haul. IC's pick the top paying loads, SNI takes their cut out of these top paying loads while not spending a dime on fuel, insurance, etc. Yea its a flat % schneider gets, but the higher paying the load, the larger that cut is.freightwipper, gentleroger and Vilhiem Thank this. -
Try pumping out an underground fuel tank when its 10 below and blowing snow. Then tell me pulling flats is harder.
brsims Thanks this.
