As far as I knew (and I did drive for A&S Kinard), they operated as a wholly owned subsidiary of the Celedon Group, so yes, Celedon and A&S were technically sister companies. As for interaction with Celedon though, I had gotten a couple of tire repairs done at the Celedon terminal in Carlisle. Other than that, the companies were pretty much independent, and we were not allowed to pull Celedon trailers, at least on our fleet.

They are a good company, and I'd still be there if the dispatcher on the (day cab) fleet I was on didn't try to run us out of hours almost daily. We'd finish off a 7 hour first pull, and then get dispatched on a 6 hour second pull. Under perfect conditions, perfectly legal and doable, but as anyone knows, traffic and construction in the northeast can be and is heavy and unpredictable, and that 6 hour second pull could easily turn into an 8 to 9 hour run. It got to be too stressful trying to beat the clock at the end of the day.

Nobody wants to comment about the pay rates. I'm going to assume that it is not good. But money isn't everything.

I'll reply. The pay is good. You can start out anywhere from $18-$20 an hour depending on what shift you work. I run third because it's got the higher shift differential. I'm very happy. The pay is good, the dispatchers are good and the equipment is top notch. And I never get run into the ground like someone else stated. Now I run out of Carlisle terminal (which is newer) so I don't know how the York folks run things. And someone asked about Big Lots....Yes, A&S is the house carrier for both Ollies and Big Lots. I'm very happy I made the switch to this company. I run mostly Georgia Pacific loads to Sam's Club stores and some grocery warehouses. Most of the grocery warehouses like C&S are drop/hook so no biggie. The occasional Supervalu live unload is no biggie either because I get paid by the hour and I run at night. Paid to sleep, not bad.
